#CanadaPost has rejected #CUPW 's offer to take the current dispute to binding arbitration.

If there is a strike/lockout, it's clearly the employer's fault. They want a war with the union.

With the recent decision to do a Overtime Ban strike, we have decided to reopen 16 Bit Store. While delivery times may be delayed, they will not be held like last time. We may close the store if this changes to a full strike.

@ned “When people say that ’Canada Post should operate like a business’, I don't think they realize what that means. It means that rural locations should not be allowed access to parcel delivery, period. It means that seniors should have no access to mail delivery that they can pick up themselves. It means that if servicing your area is not profitable, you don't get mail. Period.”

Everyone is talking about the pending strike (post office) but I saw pickets with signs today. What's that about?

@Bel_tamtu this has nothing to do with funding. it's retaliation for striking. remember, that was the same reason for ending door-to-door and installing those shitty mailboxes in the first place.

Canada Post claimed, in bad faith, to have lost profit because of the strike. they would not have lost profit if they had simply given the workers what they were demanding, and had not dragged out a strike for several months. in this case, they would not have lost profits if they had not locked workers out instead of allowing rotating strikes as CUPW had planned, so that Canada Post could not claim bullshit "lost profits".

On #CUPW: We cannot ignore authoritarian back-to-work legislation being used more and more, while employers and bosses reward themselves handsomely at the expense of workers and society

This week's episode of Blueprints of Disruption contextualizes this morning's wildcat strike action at the #CUPW sorting plant.

(Now I am wiped and want to crash, but it's only 7:30 pm, so I need to stay up until at least 10pm. I am not a fan of sunrises, no matter how late they are.)

Update on 16 Bit Store.

After almost 5 weeks of the . The federal government has forced the postal workers back to work.

What this means for us is this. We are waiting until all items shipped in November have started moving. Then we will open the store once we’ve updated a few things.

The government ordering CUPW back to work is exactly what Canada Post wanted, wait it out until the government steps in.

Make no mistake, your rights to collective bargaining are being trampled here. Canada Post does not want to pay full-time employees, they want gig workers, they want profits, they want happy shareholders.

Canadians need to make a living wage, we need health insurance for things not covered under UH, and we need guarantees that the next generation entering the workplace gets full-time employment and live a life, not a grind.

General. Strike. Now.

The most shocking thing I've read this week:

"Only 10% of the membership voted and there was no offer to even vote on. Voting was very restricted with only a 3 hour window on one day in the middle of the workday in a very inconvenient location. It felt like there was an effort to suppress the vote."

> This order continues a deeply troubling pattern in which successive federal governments have used back-to-work legislation or, in this case, its arbitrary powers to let employers off the hook from bargaining in good faith. What employer would move on anything when they know the government will bail them out? Once again, the government has chosen capital over workers by taking away our leverage to get a good deal.
> We have been out on the streets for nearly a month, Canada Post has sat on our latest offer for five days with no response to us – so why this move by the government now?

“'We have the ability to do work on the weekend with full-time staff at the same regular pay that they receive now. So for us, that’s the big sticking point,' said Simpson. 'They want to basically gig-ify a Crown corporation.'”
