I whined lately 🙄 about how complex #Matrix infrastructure became after migration to separate #MatrixAuthenticationService and #ElementCall. well… now I have it all: I've configured #MAS with upstream #Keycloak backed with #LDAP db, and deployed #LiveKit (coupled with its JWT auth service). as a result I have now 6 subdomains more than a week ago, which serviced by 5 additional #containers. not so much, though… 🤷 but it was a week of work, and it was real pain in the neck to configure all those services. I mean, think of all inter-services links, all those domains, SSL certificates, config files, containers and grains of information (not always actual or accurate) spread sparsely over all the Internet. and note, folks, I'm an IT professional with years of experience in system administration and #DevOps. 🧐
but nevertheless, it's a win in the end. I guess, it is. all works as intended, I've got enterprize-level services for my personal entertainment and tons of experience and knowledge for my career. but since I know how and why it works, I'm shuddering with horror, 'cos I understand, how fragile it is. 🤪

Nice. Built my first working instance of Element Call. Everything running on our own servers and under our control, and true end-to-end encryption. Eat that, Zoom!
It's only a test setup for now, but I foresee that Element Call will quickly become the main tool for videoconferencing, not only here but in many ICT environments.

Yesterday was the Software Freedom Day, organized by Digital Freedom Foundation, there were various smaller events worldwide to promote FOSS, various organizations, companies hosted their own events, including FSF, Earth Cause, Nextcloud, System76 and TUXEDO Computers, but anyone could host their own event:

(Unfortunately it isn't promoted enough, very few people know about it, I also heard about it first 2 days ago, from @BrodieOnLinux 's video. It's really sad because it would be really important to deliver the message to average people that they don't need to stick to big tech's crappy services just because education system taught them to do so, there are some great free software projects which respect users much more, don't just treat them as records in a database to be sold.)

The time is nigh to dispose of #Zoom and use interoperable #ElementCall (#MatrixRTC).
+ Усложнить пароли, сохраняя их в парольный менеджер по типу #Bitwarden или #KeePassXC.
+ Поставить двухфакторку везде, где только возможно. Установить #Aegis и настроить резервирование ключей.
+ Для личных и массовых созвонов (в т. ч. с демонстрацией экрана) испытать #ElementCall.
+ Перенести весь офис в #NextCloud, ибо имбовая штука с поддержкой встроенных редакторов #OnlyOffice и вообще швейцарский нож для продуктивности.
+ Сменить поиск по умолчанию на любой сервер #SearXNG (#Searx), на котором имеется контактная информация администратора. Не помешает проверить в настройках, что тип запроса POST по умолчанию, ибо GET будет передавать ваш поисковый текст в незашифрованном адресе.
+ Говоря о FOSS проектах, то вот их исходники лучше склонировать на площадки #Codeberg и пр. на основе #Forgejo (#Gitea). При возможности на GitHub/GitLab занять место и поставить зеркало, но не полагаться на их систему тикетов.
You'll probably like what they do with #ElementCall and #Thirdroom. I see more brighter pastures for party 2D games rather than 3D in #Matrix though, and integrating the findings of Element Call in your game may be just that step forward! :rickhey2:
Does anyone know if there's a way to search for #Matrix servers, or search for rooms across multiple servers?
Or... does anyone know if a #naturist or #nudist Matrix server, space or room exists? There's #ElementCall coming out soon which would allow for video chat rooms, ala Zoom or Discord.
