Exciting, I now managed to setup test instance of #flarum discussion board for our housing for neighbours to be able to have internal docs store and SoMe. Now up to them to judge if they like it and want to keep it. Thumbs up! I really like the simplicity and yet extendability of it.
I'm wondering if there is simple open source reservation calendar system? Like booking common shared resource? Or room?

Nerding with #Flarum discussion forum continues. If you want to try it, I built containers for #podman, and created #kubernetes #openshift configs for it. Images for x86 are available in quay.

@marko kokeilin tänään. Heitin OpenShiftiin s2i php imagen linkillä tohon #flarum repoon. Se rakensi nätisti kontin, ja kaveriksi sille mariadb. Simppeli asentaa ja kivan yksinkertainen käyttää. Oli vahingossa se 2beta, pitää vielä koklaa 1.8.1 Siinä olisi attachment lisäosa jonka tarviisin. Vaikuttaa kyllä kivalta!
Looking for a web forum for small very low traffic community. Just read about #flarum. How is it compared to discourse or nodeBB?
@luceos ah, #Flarum is really nice! My only gripe is that it doesn't work without JS (interaction, not just reading) since I browse the web mostly using elinks. This is a similar issue I have with #Discourse.
(interestingly I cannot post on #PHPBB on #elinks either, haven't investigated why. Vanilla without JS strangely takes 10x longer for the post request).
You're right storage is cheap. Just checked, Flarum is 65MB (16MB Flarum itself, the rest as deps).
@thinkMoult at #flarum our ideology is to create an extensible first community software. Disabling all extensions, including bundled ones, will create a forum similar to your solution. Though it also supports, though not enabled by default, the scalability additions of queues, emails, auth providers etc. And yes, the codebase is fairly big even then. As for an argument for lean code bases, yeah definitely used to be a big thing. Nowadays storage is cheap though and less of a requirement.

Ça fonctionne très bien (très peu de charge sur le serveur). Et il est plutôt bien documenté https://docs.flarum.org/install/
C'est assez classique sur les techno (PHP, mariadb), il y a énorméments de logiciels web qui fonctionnent sur ce principe, donc c'est toujours intéressant d'apprendre à installer ça.
Et super initiative un forum #lowtech ! Je pense qu'il y en a déjà plein, mais peut-être que sur des thèmes plus spécifiques.

There's a new version of the FOSS forum software #Flarum out, and I was going to toot about how it seems like a great alternative for people who want to start a new community of some sort…
Then I took a look at their website and noticed a lot of LLM illustrations, and I was like no, wtf!
So I searched for Flarum AI, to see if anyone was giving them pushback on this…
And what I found instead was a seemingly official plugin to create fully AI forum users in Flarum!
