This is a #3d #laserscan of a knight from Rosslyn Chapel
near #Edinburgh. The scan is from 2001 and was done with our first Polhemus3D scanner.

We also scanned some masons marks and other bits and pieces whilst there. #mediaeval #archaeology

Exploring an astronomical day in the life of #Callanish 1 through Stellarium and our 2005 #3d #laserscan dataset. We're aiming to release this next week! #megalith #archaeology #archaeoastronomy @megportal

From 2005, a #rockart panel #3d #laserscan for the NADRAP project. This is one of the panels at Chatton Park. It was scanned to provide a "gold standard" to compare volunteer-led #photogrammetry captures against.

From my paper in "Able Minds and Practised Hands", this is a #3d #laserscan from 2002 of St. Orland's Stone, a #Pictish #earlymediaeval cross slab. How to make carvings clearer by stopping the sun's ability to cast shadows! 😃

Could be some nice photography happening tonight at #Callanish I (if the clouds behave!). @megportal #3d #laserscan #megalith #calanais

For #HillfortsWednesday.
From 2005, our #3d #laserscan of the #Pictish carvings on bedrock at Trusty's Hill. These carvings are outliers and quite odd. They do feature the unique "deely-bopper" symbol, though!
The nearby Anwoth Church and schoolhouse were in The Wicker Man movie.

One for the #Roman fans today. This is a #3d #laserscan from 2005 of the Bearsden Bath House.

This render is grazing-angle lit to highlight the detail and height-coloured to show the various levels of the site. Nice latrine and culvert!

Coming soon. Our 2005 #3d #laserscan dataset of the Callanish standing stones for Callanish Digital Design as an astronomically aligned model within Stellarium for all your #archaeoastronomy needs! #StandingStoneSunday

2022-11-27

For my ever-increasingly loose interpretation of #StandingStoneSunday, another carved stone from the #Whithorn collection. This is WHP.EC.19 scanned in 2004. #3d #laserscan #earlymediaeval

For #StandingStoneSunday, here's a render of the Rhynie 3 #Pictish stone. This was scanned in 2002 for analysis of the remaining surface. The stone features the badly damaged remains of a figure. #3d #laserscan #Archaeology
