After switching to a #LineageOS phone, I looked through #FDroid and #NeoStore to see what kind of #FOSS #games were available, and found Andor's Trail. It's the most Linux game ever, because it's ridiculously hard from the start, and if you look for help in online forums, you're likely to be greeted with with, well, the kind of nonsense Linux beginners encounter when looking for guidance online. One response literally included the phrase, "We're not here to hold your hand."

@82mhz Not quite what you're looking for, but the #Obtanium app installer let's you back up a list of its installed apps to your cloud service, so you can reinstall the list if occasion arises. I have a feeling #neostore might allow this too.

2025 had ups and downs, but I loved my 2025 at #IzzyOnDroid.

Our team has grown with several new members and we launched https://izzyondroid.org/, our new web home!

We even got our first grant ever (thanks, @nlnet!), allowing us to bring download statistics to IzzyOnDroid and integrate it directly into #NeoStore (and soon #Droidify), improve the #ReproducibleBuild system and more.

I'm grateful to the team for giving me a space where I feel able to make a difference ❤️

Great to here! I'm extremely happy, I use only open software in my main profile installed from #neostore . All invasive/sensitive apps installed from Google store I keep in a private space, that is activated only if I need to use it (once a day or so). This way none of the toxic app can spy on you because they are mostly inactive. But, it complicates sharing and app installs/ updates are rather slow

① For mobile, I use GrapheneOS and prioritize FOSS apps from #NeoStore (the best F-Droid client out there).

② For self-hosting, I prefer #Dokploy on Debian, mainly using #Nextcloud apps. It's way more beginner-friendly than dealing with individual docker containers.

③ For messaging, #Matrix (Element X) is perfect - it's user-friendly and stays true to FOSS principles. It gives us freedom to pick any server we trust to.

④ For Fediverse stuff, I stick with Mastodon.

What's going on with Firefox Beta on Android? Tonight my Fenix installed through Obtainium on my de-googled Graphene OS did an update, and since then I cannot open it anymore. The crash log contains an ominous:

Caused by: com.google.android.play.core.review.ReviewException: -1: Review Error(-1): The Play Store app is either not installed or not the official version. (https://developer.android.com/reference/com/google/android/play/core/review/model/ReviewErrorCode.html#PLAY_STORE_NOT_FOUND)

It seems caused by the PlayStoreReviewPromptController which occasionally asks you to rate Firefox Beta on the Google Play Store.

Is it just me? I filed a bug report.

If anyone is curious, my current Android setup is as follows:

I use #NeoStore or #Droidify (currently Neo Store, the new stats support is just too tempting) with the #IzzyOnDroid repo as primary app source, the #FDroid repo as secondary.

If I need something not on either of those, I will use #AuroraStore to access #GooglePlay.

Random APKs from GitHub or whatever only in very very specific cases. I will generally wait until the app drops on F-Droid or (preferably) IzzyOnDroid.

Excited to announce #Catima is in the top 5% of most popular apps on #IzzyOnDroid, ranking place 62 of 1307.

Even more excited to see our new IzzyOnDroid download statistics, supported by #NLNet, land in #NeoStore!

Curious as to how it works? It's actually pretty simple! Server logs are fed, per server, into https://codeberg.org/IzzyOnDroid/iod-stats-builder and the results are summarized using https://codeberg.org/IzzyOnDroid/iod-stats-collector, creating easy to consume JSON files. Then, Neo Store consumes them :)

Installing FOSS apps on your phone sometimes certainly feels like an eternal XKCD 927 purgatory.

- Apps by GrapheneOS for some GrapheneOS apps (and assorted ✨other✨ apps).
- Obtainium for installing apps directly from source/repos.
- Neo Store for installing apps who cannot be arsed to have .apk files in their repos (#AntennaPod), yet without dealing with the typical F-Droid shenanigans.
- Accrescent, because hell, why not! The more, the merrier!
- And, of course, Google Play Store for the corporate goblins.
