I think #AlpineLinux is my go to #distro for aging computers.
I moved the wifey’s aging Asus laptop to Alpine from #PopOS. It is much snappier now and runs #Minecraft just a bit better.

In the mood for the end of the world.
On Pop!_OS and hunting for indie games that run well (without making me edit 14 .conf files just to walk left) and deliver that post-apocalyptic, dystopian vibe.
What should I be playing while the world burns?

#Linux community buying/hardware qs. Using #PopOS on refurb Dell e7470 since 2020. But the battery (easy fix) & keyboard (hard fix) are falling. WiFi radio seems subpar.
Shortlist: #system76 (lemur or pangolin), Lenovo t14 with #fedora or #ubuntu, or #kubuntu focus ir14 (less $). Uses: browsing, Nextcloud, coding, watching video. No gaming.
I’m assuming transition from pop to (k)ubuntu will be mild. Will Fedora be drastic? Anyone with 1st hand exp on these candidates or other suggestions?
Thinking of rebuilding my game development desktop tomorrow and going (back) to #linux
Current thinking is #voidlinux instead of my usual #popos install, and Wayland rather than X11, with #Hyprland
Either that, or just stick with Windows for a few more months 🤔
This always happens when I take time off work #GameDev
Och schön, dass wenn man abends büschen chillig #CrusaderKings3 / #CrusaderKings daddeln will, sich #PopOS gestern mit dem #Update selbst aus dem Sein geballert hat! 🖕Also jetzt am Abend 'ne #Neuinstallation... Dann ma' #NobaraLinux ausprobieren... Kost' ja bloß Zeit... 🙄

My modified #PopOS is having a risky window system flaw where when a new window opens, sometimes the one underneath it retains focus... I've almost copy-pasted some stuff into a chat when it was supposed to go somewhere else.
My setup is really glitchy. I want to switch to something that works better, but I have so much config that might get lost... I think I'll hold out until #COSMICDE . At least until it works on #Nvidia + #Wayland !
I'm trying #PopOs today to try and make work my (not that) old pc tower. With Arch and other versions of Linux I've had graphical problems ok KDE when suspending/resuming the computer.
Let's see today if Pop works better
Ok now how do I get Steam to work. I downloaded it directly from the Steam website so it’s not flatpack (which I have heard is bad) but now I’m having disk write errors when I try to run Phasmophobia.
[updates] Phamophobia is running but it isn't acknowledging any inputs, keyboard, mouse or trackpad.
I recommend Pop!_OS. It's user-friendly, regardless of your knowledge level of Linux. Pretty much anything you want to nstall just runs, as compared to regular Ubuntu, sometimes you'll have to do more steps to get things running.
Pop!_OS also integrated well the other software distribution methods, so if you prefer Flattak or AppImage or traditional, it's good to go. (If you want Snap, it's an option too.)
A gamer? It's perfect too. 😁
Peeps, I love Pop! OS Linux, but the last two updates have resulted in a state of Kernel Panic after reboot. I had to fix by rebooting the previous kernel, reinstalling the systemd, reinstalling the kernel image and updating GRUB. I have never had these problemes with other distros (Ubuntu, Debian, SuSe). Consider less frequent, but more stable updates?
Nothing against #popos but I've gotten restless again and went and installed #artixlinux on my work machine.
I like #popos #tiling_shell on #fedora42
@cleverboi
Boi, I'm not knowledgeable about glibc, but I do use and like Pop!_Os, so I'm boosting your twt in an effort to secure you an answer.
I don't know your use case, so I have no clue why you'd be having this software issue with Pop!_Os!
Hope someone else can be of actual assistance.

Just donated to @system76 Pop!_OS after experiencing frustration with stock desktop Debian. It really highlighted how streamlined and slick the Pop!_OS install and out of box experience is.
I hope it remains that way in their future releases too.
Less friction, MUCH quicker to install and (imo) easier to use that Windows these days too.
