Looking south across the Chilliwack River (below, not shown) from Elk Mountain to Mount McGuire, the peak to the left. There is a rock face with trees and other plants. There's a ribbon of cloud obscuring the Cascade Mountain Range across the valley. Currently much of the valley is flooded due to an atmospheric river: Something that is getting to be a common event.

The crystal clear, turquoise water of Upper Joffre Lake sits below a small stream fed by the retreating Matier Glacier above it. Rocks can be seen below the water's surface. The rocky shore of the lake has evergreen trees growing in it, their reflections can be seen in the still water. There is blue sky, occasionally make itself visible through the moving mist.

Moving clouds above dark rock faces sit above Glaciar el Brujo. There's a band of light on the glacier, a line across the ice floating in the water can be seen in front. Black rocks of various size pepper the face of the glacier, proof that it's actively forging a path through the mountainous landscape, ripping out whatever is in its way. The occasional cracking / crunching as the glacier calves, followed by a thunder-like explosion is definitive evidence of its power.

Remnants of the late night sun glows over the Greenland Sea / Arctic Ocean. Traces of the north tip of Spitsbergen Island sits obscured by cloud in the golden band. The sea has very modest swells. The skies are dark and dramatic, with hints of blue sky poking through.

Large pieces of floating ice sit next to our zodiac. Going slow as we're almost surrounded by the moving ice that pours down into the fjord from the various glaciers nearby. One sits at the back of the opening between the flanking mountains. It's obscured by the moving dark cloud over it. The ice is fascinating, at least until it starts to congregate in your path to safety. Our underpowered zodiac managed to bust through, requiring a few runs at it.

A waterfall, flanked by deciduous trees, pours onto a small pool, and over a rock shelf into another before flowing down the stream. The water is crystal clear, the brown hue comes from the stones under it. There are a number of shiny, small boulders in the foreground. A 1/10th second shutter was used to capture movement, while smoothing the water.

Skaros Venetian Fortress sits high above the Mediterranean Sea under blue skies. There are some stairs leading to a small flat area, surrounded by boulders. Going further takes you to a narrow path for some epic views to the water and up to Fira on the hillside. Steadying the camera (and yourself) in the gusting wind is another matter.

A lone bergy-bit floats past, parts of it look like blue crystal. More ice lies ahead, freshly disgorged from the glacier. The glacier is flanked by two rock faces, a black, bare one on the left, the one on the right has golden vegetation on it: Both have patches of snow and are shrouded in moving clouds. There is blue sky above, casting enough light to make the colours pop.

High above Howe Sound, and much low cloud. Peaks from surrounding mountains play peek-a-boo in the dancing clouds, as patches of moving cloud slowly slide past us above.

On a clear day there's excellent views of the Sunshine Coast, small islands below, and Vancouver Island to the Southwest. Some view from the small level area on the rock face on the lower right, mainly idiots trying to win a Darwin Award :-)

A warm, morning glow over the snow-capped, chiselled peaks of Adelaide Island. A bit of dark cloud to the left adds a little drama. The seas is quite calm here of the southern tip of Adelaide Island, Antarctica. At 67° South, we are below the Antarctic Circle, where very few expedition-style ships venture: This boat only makes 2 or three runs here per season. A few more degrees south and big ice becomes a real problem …not going there!

Looking down and over the railing of our expedition ship into the rippled water of the bay. Reflections of the chiselled peaks can be seen in the water, decorated with scattered ice flowing through it. The landscape is stunningly harsh, although it's beaty and warmth radiate all around …or it could be that it's Valentines Day.

Antarctica Day, December 1, commemorates the signing of the Antarctic Treaty in 1959. The treaty sets forth strict guidelines to protect the very important ecosystem of the Antarctic Continent. Today, China and Norway routinely ignore the treaty, scooping up tons, upon tons of Krill. Krill is the building block of pretty much the entire food chain, shrimp and other crustations depend on it, as do penguins and whales.

The Wild Atlantic Way Signature Discovery Point @Sliabh Liag, or Slieve League. Perched high above the relative calm of the North Atlantic Ocean. A rocky beach can be seen along the shore of the peninsula about half-way down. There are also large rock formations rising from the water in the foreground. It's an overcast, blue-grey day, with periods of pretty much everything.

If I have almost zero followers or influence, it seems like a sign that I should quit publishing. I am not going to counter this in a narcissistic way. More likely, I will consider possibilities including stopping publication activities or not.
