Singleboard Alpha is an ESP32 pocket computer from the creator of Arduboy

The Singleboard Alpha is a tiny portable computer that’s… built around a single board (you probably guessed that from the name. But unlike some of the so-called single-board PCs we’ve seen in recent years (I’m looking at you Raspberry Pi), this little computer has a built-in keyboard, display, and battery connector. In other words, you can […]

I just discover @hackerboards « The #SingleBoard Computer Database » to have useful information and, like in the following example, compare boards with each other (here #AtomicPi Vs #OrangePi 3) 🔍

the #orangepi and equivalent machines all have the ability to let you consume media

In my case, I'd only use it as a web server for static sites and maybe as a bittorrent tracker and node

For some home hosted indie services

wouldn't that be a waste of electricity ?

Or isn't that a waste of circuitery I wouldn't use ?

Just discovering the #ZimaBoard who is a « low-cost #SingleBoard #Server exclusively designed for makers and geeks. It has both the expandability of an x86 single-board computer (SBC), and the appropriate power of a micro server »

The solution seems to me to be suited for small structures (Intel Quad Core CPU up to 2.2GHz) and/or for VPN, NAS, server (media or other), router, homelab, etc.

Ubuntu Linux 23.04 - support for RISC-V (open hardware!) PC - StarFive VisionFive 2 :ubuntu: ⌨️

"VisionFive 2 is the 1st RISC-V single-board computer with an integrated GPU and an exciting step forward for the whole RISC-V ecosystem,” ~Frank Zhao (VP, StarFive)*

The future is open with hardware, too. When will we be able to, say, GAME on these? :thinkhappy:

Factoring everything including availability (Raspberry Pis might as well be mythical now) where do you stand? What’s your favourite and comment why. #singleboard

SiFive to release all source code to initialize HiFive Unleashed RISC-V single board computer.

The first Linux-capable, multi-core, RISC-V processor – the Freedom U540.

Aside from being open source and customizable, one of the main benefits of RISC-V is that it's fully modern, purpose built, & unburdened with legacy code.

An open source hardware helps the industry become more competitive.
