#AudioProduction

I've always remembered a description once offered by a true audio electronics wizard with degrees in physics and other sciences:

"Like dragging some elastic over a cheese grater".

He was describing analog tape machines, regardless of cost/quality. I like to recall that when beset by the self appointed audio police... 'audiophiles' πŸ˜‚

Bo Beats's holiday guide this year includes something called a tabletop humbucker. The Foley possibilities are pretty amazing. I suspect this is something someone who is handy with a soldering iron could build for less than the $150 they quote in the video, though.

Of course, if you have an electric guitar you don't mind taking the strings off of, you can do the same things for essentially zero cost.

Finally got me the Lindell SBC API2500 style and the MC771176 style.

And therefore finally an alternative to the Waves API2500 as my go to drumbus comp.

More and more i become a plugin alliance guy. No complains here!

I agree fully with Ars Technica, but for another reason. This seems to be an ad for Paradise Guitar Studio that you can get for 150 USD, but the gem is doing audio work on Linux (GNU + Linux to be fair). The level of control you get on a distro like Arch (no, it's not difficult) makes many other systems look like something you find in a toy store.

Now that #VST is completely #opensource I asked Steve Duda if he would consider adding #Linux support to #Serum.

This was his reply.

Email from Steve Duda containing the following text:

Linux will be probably eventually but not soon. I care to serve as many customers and serious musicians as possible. Linux will have its day but it is not there quite yet for me to endure it.

Warm Regards,
Steve

Steinberg released Cubase 15 on Wednesday. I grabbed the demo just to see. Not horrible.

Omnivocal needs some tightening up. There's no reason why it should go to 50% resources when NOTHING is playing. wtf?

hi fedi, any tips to make windows VSTs run on linux?
i mean i would usually use yabridge; but it hasn't been updated in a while, and it doesn't support the latest WINE versions that run atop of wayland instead of Xorg.

i wanna return to doing music now that i have my linux machine set up, but i fucking hate how almost everything i depend on is windows and macos only when it comes to audio production.
