This feature uses the Android Virtualization Framework (#AVF) which is virtual machine and hypervisor based.

From a performance perspective it would be better to run #Debain #Linux in a container. I suspect the #Android kernel is not adequate for Debian and standard Linux desktop and server software
For those that are following my #shenanigans with 2015 #MacBook, I have settled on #UltramarineLinux 40 for now. I will hold out on the update to 41.
For the most part I am just looking for something that can web browse and watch #YouTube wirelessly with ease while not completely maxing out my system. #Gnome is currently my preferred DE and #Flatpak is a must.
Fedora 41 based distros either bork from the start or max out my cpu (and fans) too much. YouTube playback was painful with lots of freezing and video/audio sync issues. In addition, having a video play while surfing the web at times caused the MacBook to chug.
UM40 still retains the overall snappiness and allows me to multitask. YouTube playback is much better; no slowdown or video/audio sync issues but I am averaging 1% frame drops per video (which is not too noticeable).
I will be going on spring break in a few weeks so that is when I will have more time to tinkering around to find something the is lighter on resources/more efficient.
Feel free share #OS ideas and YouTube how-to/install videos to your buddy.
Just a general heads up, my MacBook has not done well with any #Debain based distros or #BSD.
Thanks y’all 🙏
(Edited for EL conventions and clarity)
I took the plunge and upgraded my Debain #Linux box to trixie, because I wanted to get my Intel ARC GPU working with PLEX. Happy to report that it Just Works(tm)! Very excited for the upcoming release, but for now I'll turn back on popcon and happily file bug reports but props to the #Debain team for all their continued hard work. ❤️
bash -c "$(curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/community-scripts/ProxmoxVE/main/tools/addon/add-tailscale-lxc.sh)"
tailscale up --login-server https://hs.xxxx.xxx --accept-dns=false
docker exec headscale headscale nodes register --user NOM-UTILISATEUR --key mkey:xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
One thing I forgot to mention: this update required some encouraging in the form of resolving some deps by hand with `apitude`, and even a couple of nudging forward in the form trying the upgrade several times so the new version of `plasma-framework` is installed before `plasma-theme-oxygen` because the former's old version and the latter's new version handle the same file and that's a conflict. So if you are going to try this, I suggest you to connect to #debain-next@oftc.net on IRC.
The countless hours people (including myself) have spend working around the whole Python EXTERNALLY-MANAGED crock is ridiculous.
Dear (Debian) maintainers, most of us nowadays work either in containers or VMs, installing packages via pip is a non issue for us. Your intentions are good but you've broken countless systems for people who didn't have an issue in the first place.

With #Debain Bullseye becoming EOL this month, I took a bit of a plunge yesterday and did a [gulp] In-Place Upgrade of my Pi-Hole from Bullseye > Bookworm.
Everything worked great afterwards, minus some Unbound DNS stuff that needed to to be only slightly adjusted.
I did a quick write up of the process I took for anyone else wanting to do this, but please be careful/ymmv: https://gist.github.com/RooneyMcNibNug/913ca5c4a7d34e0f361a6f43e209c504
@gurgle Interesting!
I tried to run #jellyfin in an LXC but transferring the user data looks like a nightmare. It would be nice if Jelly proposed an easy way to do it.
So I decided to stay in #docker, so much easier :-). It runs on a #debain VM in #proxmox. But I have trouble getting Quicksync working.
Did you find a good tutorial over the internet for activating Quicksync? Thanks.
I was not able to get a plug and play solution like #Batocera, #Lakka, or #Retropie to boot on the #MangoPi MQ-Quad
So for the time being, I was able to install janky official #Debain iso and upgrade it to #Bookwork with the official repos.
I will probably have to install all the emulators individually. Holler at your boy if you know some good emulators for the following:
1) #GameBoy/GBC/GBA
2) #NeoGeo Pocket
3) #Wonderswan
4) #AtariLynx
5) #GameGear
6) #NES
7) #MasterSystem
@I_am_elena I'm using #ubuntu since ages and it is really good and beginner friendly.
Recently I installed #fedora on a spare laptop and the user experience was also great.
Besides them, there are a ton of different ubuntu and #debain based versions out there.
* If you install #WordPress from #Debain packages, you get a slightly older but quite well maintained version.
* Beware the default settings allow comments by default. My suggestion: setup a #firewall while you configure it.
* https://github.com/wp-cli/wp-cli looks very good, but it's not packaged :(
* Debian splits it in 3 to accommodate #LFSH. Plugins go to `/var/lib/wordpress`
* Ended installing WP by hand because of the latest CVEs.

Is #debain sid a good desktop distro? :linux:
Day One with my side project #debain server. I have the NUC hardware up and running headless. To learn a bit more about hardening the device, I have chosen to encrypt the drive. On boot it asks for a password. I have a keyboard and mouse close at hand, but I wonder how this works if I am remote? Any tips for on how to manage this? #learnlinux #encrypted
