#DMR - Informationen sind im Netz sehr breit gestreut aber schlecht auffindbar. Vieles ist längst veraltet. Wenn Ihr z.B. Infos zum "Brandmeister" -protokoll oder Codeplugs sucht, dann vergesst nicht, die Suchergebnisse auch zeitlich zu filtern. Ich habe die Erfahrung gemacht, dass Suchergebnisse aus der Frühzeit des DMR seltenst brauchbar sind. Bis etwa 2018 kann man eigentlich alles aussortieren. Damit hätte ich viel Zeit sparen können.

Beschäftige mich wieder einmal mit #DMR und Aufbau von #codeplug - nicht jeder ist sinnvoll für jeden OP. Es gibt noch etwas Finetuning und dann bin ich hoffentlich durch bis zum Winter 😬.
Naja und finde dabei eine TG 26577 DL-DX oder Germany DX. Aber nicht etwa bei Brandmeister DL, sondern auf einer Britischen HP. Doku ist oft Glückssache...Habe ich gleich aufgenommen. Vielleicht treffe ich bei Gelegenheit jemanden zum Austausch über interessante Conds usw.

New project almost complete.

Pi-star Hotspot, custom Nextion screen design, Pi Zero 2W, geekworm X306 "UPS", MMDVM dual hat with built in antennas (shorter range, but easier installation for a portable node), 3000mAh 18650 battery. The case design is my own, spun up in #openscad and 3d printed.

I have some internal wiring to do. As it sits the fan runs whether the Hotspot is powered on or not. I'm going to use a 2n2222 to switch the ground side of the fan based on whether the nextion screen is receiving power or not.

I also need to add a power switch to shut the UPS off once the system has been shut down... and power it back up again.

EDIT:
Power switch (push-button, using the header on the X306) has been installed.
Transistor installed with a 680 Ohm bias on the base (to reduce current to the transistor but keep the NPN junctions in the saturation/full on region) installed to switch the negative/ground wire on the fan.

This thing is ready to take on the road with me.

Looking to see if anybody on Masterdong is using Reticulum at all? I've been using Meshtastic but wondering whether to keep going with that and perhpas just go all in with Reticulum. #HamRadio friends: I'm trying to do a sked with a friend who just got on Brandmeister DMR on his local repeater. I've only got Wires-X (I technically have DMR and P25 but...long story) and I'm not easily able to bring my pi-star back online due to the woes of locked down university wifi.

Is there any hope that I could bridge to him on a talkgroup without resorting to hijacking a friend's wifi or re-downloading Dudestar? Or did Brandmeister officially ruin all my hopes and dreams :neocat_glare_sob:

Any #HAM #radio operators in the Northern #Atlanta #Georgia area who could point me to a local repeater that has some ears? I'm stuck in Alpharetta for the next week for work and I'd like to be able to chat and meet new people.

I've tried the Roswell machine(s)(?).. the 2m one won't key up for me here at the hotel, and I don't have the power in this little HT to keep the 70cm one keyed up. I can trip it from the hotel room, but it's not reliable.

Something that'll hear my little 5W HT would be great. Analog or #DMR ... I've got both available to me, and front panel programming capable, too.

Ahh, #APRS over #DMR. That's new to me.

I'm DMR looks neat, but I'm still low-key annoyed that it uses a proprietary audio codec/vocoder.
That kind of goes against the point of what ham radio is all about.

Heute war " #Aachen zeigt Engagement" im Kurpark und #Freifunk war mit Infostand dabei.
Ich hatte #Meshtastic und #Meshcom sowie etwas #Amateurfunk Zeugs dabei.
Ein Mensch hat nur über #LoRa (Meshtastic) erfahren, dass es die Veranstaltung samt LoRa Vorführung gab und ist dafür vorbei gekommen. Ein Meshcom Node samt #LoRaWAN war in Reichweite und es kamen Nachrichten z.B. von wo schönes Wetter ist rein. Der #DMR Repeater in der Stadt sendetet auch vom schönen weit entfernten Wetter. 1/2

I think my #DMR repeater access problem is fixed - the DMR Mode setting in channels was the main culprit. Now I need to visit my local hilltop and call CQ :) (There’s a #hamchallenge for that! I really must crack on with these challenges…)

The main thing is that conceptually, they are all the same. Well, OK, DMR uses TDMA so a single physical repeater can support two simultaneous channels. Other than that, though ...

Would any of you good #HamRadio folk in the UK have a working #DMR codeplug for an #AnyTone878 AT-D878UVII Plus that contains working configuration for one or more repeaters? (That you would be willing to share?) Radio works on hotspot and analogue 5/9 to Rochester analogue repeater - but can’t access the DMR at Rochester (& others). No parrot, no TG91 World, TG9 Local - set up via the GB7IK details on qrz.com. Need to see a working setup for something to see what’s wrong!

Well if you can't raise the bridge, you lower the river.

Have a DVStick 30 I got a while back - it works great on my Windows 10 machine, but the Windows 11 machine always hoses the FTDI Driver - it won't work there.

So I put that stick over on my nearby Raspberry Pi 4b, which runs Weewx and Hamclock, running as an AMBEServer.

Now all computers can use the DVStick - that's better anyway.

@hamchallenge HC18S Make a contact in digital voice mode. Completed a digital voice QSO on 8-May-2025 with Jim, WB8HMD on DMR digital via the K9VI Crystal Lake, IL repeater. Used TriStateDMR Talk Group 4649 (network) and TG 8 (local RF, TS1 CC04).

@Megawatt I see. You might have more luck with #dmr, #dstar or #c4fm. But I can not name you any talk group that might be of interest.
