Black linen skirt was picked up by client yesterday.
I’m glad that I edge stitched the pleats from waist to hem ( used the stitch to flatten them to the body from waist to hip line).
I had to iron it before she picked up ( on the wrong side worked fine), and the stitching saved me many headaches!

Finished (except for the skirt hook and eye) this pleated linen black skirt for a client. Full length with a side zipper and the pleats are sewn down from the hip to waist and edge stitched from hip to hem to assist with pressing later.

The good thing is that since I've found linen finger-socks, both my struggle with keeping feet warm and my skin problems have majorly reduced. The bad thing is that as far I know only one Japanese company Memeri has thought to make such thing. They are not cheap themselves, shipping is expensive because it is literally across the world and on top of that I need to pay VAT and import tax for getting them in my country. A photo of a bunch of flax coloured herringbone twill linen, after washing but before ironing. It's very wrinkly and has the approximate topography of a very angry and new mountain, not yet worn down by time or glaciers. Incredibly wrinkly and crinkled, with raised and lower bits! Sini's pink hand for scale.

A section has been ironed and is now smooth, shimmery, sort of naturally and softly malleable uniform surface with just a tiny bit of delightful texture from the rough thread used and the pattern of the weave. It's like night and day, or to borrow from the previous image, the angry new mountains being met with the soft shifting sands of wind-blown desert. It's lovely!

A very close up photo of the weave, with fingertips for scale. The rather rough twill weave has a lot of natural variation from the thread being quite coarse, but it's all sitting down so nice and flat that it has just a pleasant texture to it. There's a very very slight sheen to each individual thread, polished by the hot iron.

My lovely wife here is sporting a plain linen jacket that I drafted myself from scratch. Closed with invisible hook and eyes. Linen is sturdy, plain weave, natural color. Unlined, nothing fancy. But I love it, and so does wife! I combined pattern details from a Tirolean jacket and a quilted jacket into this simple garment. The next on will be of gray wool and have pewter buttons.

I don't know how people move through life without basic sewing/mending skills 😅 we went to the beautiful wedding of two friends yesterday, and i spent the roadtrip down taking in the waist of my dress and moving a couple of buttons on my partner's vest. It solved the gaping of the top part and made it fit so much better! Also got him a tie to match my Norwegian #bunad which has finally been altered to fit me again. #Stitch work - takes me a while to get into it, and also its so nicely engrossing. This is a quick n dirty work pants patch, two layers of #linen with a #cotton sandwiched inbetween, because the original material is surprisingly thin cotton, and this is an area that receives abrasion (on the seat). Button craft thread (bama chanin style) to keep things sturdy. Was gonna go for denim but that was just too heavy to match the original material. Was gonna go for a persimmon leaf #sashiko, but I want this one done ASAP, so that’ll wait til the next repair job.
