Yay! My web888 can see sun farts! :)
Both FT8 and WSPR receiving went down on last night KP5+ geomagnetic activity.

Mostly semi-ripe cuttings of lavender and variegated sage done.
There may be more to do in a couple of weeks.

The prickly pear cactus pad we laid down at the bottom of our property last fall has successfully rooted and grown itself a new pad!
Good conditions on 30m last night. For the first time my #QRSS grabber at SO5CW received KQ9RSS from Decatur, IL, who is transmitting 200mW to an attic dipole. #hamradio #propagation
I'd read on the internet that strawberry runners severed from their source plant won't be able to root. Of course I had to test that claim. Worked fine. #strawberry #fragaria #propagation #plants #fruit #gardening #vegetative
I put the air-layered Santa Rosa plum in the ground this evening. I pulled the big forsythia out this morning with a lot of rope and a big come-a-long, cut the root ball off with the chain saw, dragged off the brush, washed the dirt out the root ball and dragged it off, chopped out some more roots, hoed it up, raked it out, planted the plum.
It had lots of new roots filling up the pot and has been growing fast.

More propagation today… I think this is Golden Pothos.

The Santa Rosa plum air layering has made roots! It's been 11 weeks since it was started. It should make a standard sized tree if it survives. I put it in a pot for now so I can be kept wet and out of the hot sun if necessary and figure out where I want to plant it.

This weekend was interesting on the #6m band. #6meters was very strange this morning, a pretty much fiber-optic quality path right into Florida Every contact I had was a 59+. Also had a really good time last night on #20m getting a bunch of #POTA contacts.

I was happy to hear the latest 100 Watts and a Wire bemoan the poor state of the waves since May. As a #NewHam, it's good to know it's not just me: the bands really have been in an early summer doldrums. https://player.captivate.fm/episode/368b53c3-bb17-4c31-9941-0774fa195c3b
PSK Reporter stats also help confirm this. https://pskreporter.info/cgi-bin/pskstats.pl
Trying to propagate mountain laurel (Kalmia latifolia). I'm not optimistic and would be happy with even one. Will update in six months or so. #plants #kalmia #ericacea #propagation #hormones #rooting #gardening
It's been very interesting to watch the radius of ft8 reception on 20m abruptly shrink at times over the past couple of weeks. I'm currently receiving nothing beyond very roughly 1,000 miles, the shortest reception radius I've ever seen for when the band has still been working at all. It's very striking to see on the map.
Propagation station!
Tradescantia (possibly fluminensis variety) which was brought home from a school trip to RHS Wisley (and potted there originally as part of the trip, now repotted).
Jade leaf (I think) which accidentally broke off a plant I was looking at in Sainsburys. (Honest it really was an accident!)
