It measures around 11.5 to 13 centimeters in length and weighs between 13 and 17 grams. Males are easily recognized by their black heads, bright orange chests, and white neck patches, especially during the breeding season. These birds are known for their upright posture and their sharp, clicking call, which resembles two stones being tapped together. Stonechats are often seen perched on shrubs, fences, or tall grasses, scanning for insects and small invertebrates. They are resident in milder regions but may migrate short distances in colder climates.

Today on the Scilly Isles, Mothman saw a Purple Heron (blurry and distant but it was such a bird - will hunt for it again tomorrow!), Stonechat and a Dunnock. Mothman also did more rock posing.
