I fell down an interesting rabbit hole with Telegram. Telegram-Desktop uses Jemalloc which seems to run into some problems with the 16k page sizes on Asahi Linux. If you build from the RPM package it builds fine because the version of Jemalloc for Asahi is built using 16k page sizes. That said, if you use the Flatpak version, it's built for 4k page sizes and crashes out.

Since Jemalloc can only have the page sizes set at build time and not runtime, how exactly would you fix the Flatpak version without breaking out of the Flatpak sandbox and linking the system install of Jemalloc? :wolf_peek: And how does Flatpak usually handle other similar edge cases where different build options are needed even on the same architecture?

This might be a slightly hot take, but if Telegram was properly end-to-end encrypted it'd be a lot harder to hold the CEO accountable for poor moderation on their platform. :blobfoxpeek: Yes I think that's a dumb reason to arrest someone, yes I think it sets a scary precedent, but also yeah I do think Telegram being able to moderate their platform because it's not encrypted also means they bear some responsibility to moderate it.

ich kann bei der #Desktop-Variante von #Telegram (#Linux #Ubuntu) seit kurzem nicht mehr zwei Zeilenumbrüche mit Shift+Enter machen. Nur noch einen. Es ist schlicht auf Anhieb keine Leerzeile mehr möglich, so wie hier zwischen Anrede und Text. Und das NERVT!!! Kennt noch wer das Problem?

In der Web-Anwendung funktioniert es, aber wie lange noch?!??

I can no longer make two line breaks with Shift+Enter in the #Desktop version of #Telegram (#Linux #Ubuntu). Only one. It is simply no longer possible to create a blank line, as here between the salutation and the text. And that's so ANNOYING!!! Does anyone else know the problem?

It still works in the web application, but for how much longer?!??

Telegram Desktop - Bilder größer anzeigen geht nicht mehr

Normalerweise klickt man bei Telegram Desktop auf ein Bild um es größer anzeigen zu lassen. Doch seit einiger Zeit geht das hier bei mir irgendwie nicht mehr. Zwar wird der Mauszeiger über den Bildern weiter zu einen Handsymbol, doch ein Klick bleibt ohne jede Wirkung.

Hat einer von Euch eine Idee wo das Problem liegen könnte bzw. vielleicht sogar eine Lösung des Problems?

Telegram Desktop решил уменьшить потребляемую память и рендерить в видео анимированные стикеры первой ревизии (которые с тверкающей вишней). Но при этом они как-то сильно продолбались с разрешением, да ещё и так, что у меня пиксели буквально из глаз текут, когда я смотрю на это.

Даже с учётом того, что картинка ниже будет пожата шакалами можно будет прекрасно видеть пиксели в ручьях слёз бедной вишенки.

I would add after 1 or 2 weeks of testing that, Most JIT are missing, not only Lua (there is already a patch for RV32), PCRE, php engine, mb_strings (but they can all be used without it).

Other missing libs: libgsl25 (GNU Scientific Library), needed by Hugin, and Darktable (there is still rawtherapee). #ObsStudio is missing too.

On the sound design part, SuperCollider is missing.

On the (retrocomputer/arcade/console) emulator side missing are: openmsx, but mame, libretro (including bsnes, beetle-psx/vb/pce, desmume, etc...) are here. Missing in libretro are snes9x, and nestopia (closed source)

if Firefox (that already have patchs) and LibreOffice are not in distributions, most productivity tools already have. JHere is a partial list of what is already running on RISC-V:
