This was quite challenging as it's a very new genre for me. There's other music like this and the composers truly worked some magic in making symphonic music work with FM synths; I can only hope to learn these skills one day.

@mima Also, #PMD98 & #BambooTracker aren’t the only two #PC-98 music-composition tools out there. In the past there were #MDRV98, #KOLIN98, #muCOM88 (ported to PC-98), I think #ZMusic, #FMP (up to version 4), & many other #MML-based drivers. Today we also have #MML2VGM, #FMP7, & #FurnaceTracker.

This #PC98 style arrange makes me want to play #Touhou 16.5 lol. If you told me this is #PMD or #BambooTracker I would've believed you, but apparently this is all #MIDI and #soundfont! :alice_pog:

When developing it I had an idea but it refused to work out, until I gave up and let the piece develop on its own terms, and it all started to come together.

So if your creation doesn't want to obey your vision, let it go and see where it takes you, you might be pleasantly surprised.

  If you are not a professional composer, then tools like LMMS / Fruity are appealing. Unfortunately there remains the huge issue of finding good sample sets.

#Chiptunes allow you to use banks of presets and the end result generally sounds more cohesive and retro (if thats what you are going for).

I would add after 1 or 2 weeks of testing that, Most JIT are missing, not only Lua (there is already a patch for RV32), PCRE, php engine, mb_strings (but they can all be used without it).

Other missing libs: libgsl25 (GNU Scientific Library), needed by Hugin, and Darktable (there is still rawtherapee). #ObsStudio is missing too.

On the sound design part, SuperCollider is missing.

On the (retrocomputer/arcade/console) emulator side missing are: openmsx, but mame, libretro (including bsnes, beetle-psx/vb/pce, desmume, etc...) are here. Missing in libretro are snes9x, and nestopia (closed source)
