La reprise de l'économie étatsunienne après la Grande Dépression n'a pas commencé avant la seconde guerre mondiale. L'investissement n'a décollé qu'à partir de 1941 (Pearl Harbor) pour atteindre, en pourcentage du PIB, plus du double du niveau de 1940. Comment cela se fait-il ? Ce n'est pas le résultat d'une reprise des investissements du secteur privé. Ce qui s'est produit, c'est une augmentation massive des investissements et des dépenses publiques. En 1940, les investissements du secteur privé étaient encore inférieurs au niveau de 1929 et ont même continué à baisser pendant la guerre. Le secteur public a pris en charge la quasi-totalité des investissements, les ressources (en "valeur") étant détournées vers la production d'armes et d'autres mesures de sécurité dans une économie de guerre totale.

A forecast model run at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, shows snow showers covering most of the northwest Wisconsin and Upper Peninsula regions of the Northland.

Forecasted snowfall totals for Tuesday night and Wednesday range from under 1-inch near the Twin Ports, 1 to 2 inches around Highway 63 in northwest Wisconsin, 2 to 4 inches in the South Shore snowbelt region and the eastern half of northwest Wisconsin, and 4 to 8 inches farther east outside of the Northland.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Ashland, Gogebic, Iron, and Sawyer counties from 3 a.m. to 10 p.m. (Central Daylight Time) on Wednesday, March 19, 2025. Snowfall totals will range from 2 to 6 inches from west to east across the advisory area. Winds will become quite breezy, with gusts of 30 to 40 mph likely at times. This will reduced visibility on roadways as snowfall occurs.

MORE SNOW COMING:

The snowfall forecast across the Northland for Sunday night and Monday will be north of Highway 2 in the Minnesota region. The most will be in the Rainy River Basin with 2 to 4 inches possible. The rest of the Arrowhead away from Lake Superior will see 1 to 2 inches, with the North Shore and Iron Range seeing up to 1 inch of accumulation.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 3 a.m. through noon Monday, March 17, 2025, for Koochiching and northern St. Louis counties. This is the area where the highest snowfall totals will take place, and when the heaviest snowfall will be occurring at around 1-inch per hour.

The satellite and radar over the Northland shows increasing cloud cover across the region. The first snow showers forming as part of an approaching storm system are just to the west of Itasca, Aitkin, and Pine counties, moving to the northeast.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for nearly all of the Northland for the rest of this Wednesday, February 5, 2025, through 6 a.m. on Thursday, February 6, 2025.
