A moth with colouring that is an interesting mix of greys, whites and browns resting on a bramble petal which is mainly white with a hint of pink in parts. The body, somewhat more solid than a butterfly's would be is clearly visible, as the the two marbled wings and the head, as well as two white legs.

Gardening update. Current estimate is around 700 blackberries on the bramble with plenty of new flowers forming and opening now so more to come, but excitingly - you've got to take your excitement however you can - the first one has started to get some colour in it now.

Common Darter (Sympetrum striolatum) dragonfly perched on a green bramble leaf. It has clear wings with amber patches near the leading edges, a pale yellow thorax, and a reddish-brown abdomen with fine black markings.
