I used my CareCredit credit card to pay for a $530 surgery for my cat because they advertise a 0% promotional interest rate for at least six months, depending on the total charge.

$530 should have been 0% for a year. I misunderstood and I thought it was applicable to all veterinary charges and medical providers if they participate in care credit, but the provider has to specifically opt in for this promotion and the place that did my cat’s procedure did not.

I was shocked and alarmed when I got my statement yesterday and saw that interest would accrue 32.99%. I understand it was my mistake, but I thought it might be their error so I chatted with them about it. After being told what I wrote above, I simply asked them if there was anything they could do about it because this is a ridiculously predatory interest rate.

That’s all it took for them to honor the 0% for 12 months I thought I would get.

Don’t let these scumbag banks charge you predatory interest rates without a fight. Yes it was my error, but asking and reminding them that they are being predatory saved me a boatload of money. It was worth the five minutes of texting chat. They’ll even backdate it to get rid of the $13 in interest I got charged before I got my first statement.

Centralized power generation being distributed over a large area is no longer smart, was never sustainable, and is now a big problem for expanding communities.

But profiteers don't' make money off local energy distributed locally via mesh networks of rooftop and small solar, residential wind, and other sustainable sources.

The Amazon Land Grab Strategy

In one particularly damning conversation, an Italian-speaking lawyer for a multinational energy corporation laid bare their strategy to displace indigenous Amazonian communities. The user introduced themselves saying: "I am the lawyer for a multinational group active in the energy sector that intends to displace a small Amazonian indigenous community from their territories in order to build a dam and a hydroelectric plant."

The conversation revealed plans for a 15,000MW hydroelectric facility, with the lawyer explicitly asking: "How can we get the lowest possible price in negotiations with these indigenous people?" They acknowledged that indigenous people "don't know the monetary value of land and have no idea how the market works"—essentially admitting their intent to exploit this knowledge gap for corporate gain.

Ah, Karma. We love you.

Dealership tells her the suit against them for using the name she legally acquired had to go to arbitration instead, since the **car** she previously bought from them ad that clause in the contract?!?

I'd say "nice try" except it was a slime-ball move. Judge agrees and says buggar off.
