Examining #RDNA4's out-of-order memory accesses in detail, and investigating with testing
#RDNA 4's memory subsystem enhancements are exciting and improve performance across a variety of workloads. #AMD specifically calls out benefits in #raytracing. But RDNA 4's scheme for handling memory dependencies isn't fundamentally different from that of #GCN many years ago. RDNA 4’s makes the most significant change to AMD’s #GPU memory subsystem since RDNA launched in 2019.

Unless the availability and price is disruptive, I'll still prefer a laptop with an RTX.

My guess? Navi 44 will appear on lower-end models. The 9070M XT and 9080M will appear at the $1,800 markup. Otherwise is DOA.

But history tends to repeat itself.

I'd really like 16 CUs of #RDNA 3.5, instead of 12x RDNA3 in my 7840HS #AMD APU.

Meh, i chose my particular #miniPC because it's got a fancy #OCuLink port - an octa-core #Zen4 CPU is perfectly fine. My upgrade path has always been following the #eGPU route to 1080p60 max settings.

It's probably gonna be a #Radeon 7800, because of the preferable memory, capacity as well as bandwidth.

It's a somewhat annoying time of the year, October, with next-gen announcements at #CES looming. 😅
