TEL AVIV, Israel (AP) — #Israel approved plans on Monday to capture the entire #Gaza Strip and remain in the territory for an unspecified amount of time, two #Israeli officials said, in a move that if implemented would vastly expand Israel’s operations in the #Palestinian territory and likely bring fierce international opposition.

Israeli Cabinet ministers approved the plan in an early morning vote, hours after the Israeli military chief said the army was calling up tens of thousands of reserve soldiers.

"TANGIER, Morocco (AP) — More than a year of protests over #Morocco’s decision to normalize ties with #Israel has emboldened activists and widened a gap between the decisions of the government and the sentiments of the governed. The fury has spilled into the country’s strategic ports.

Amid shipping cranes and stacked containers, 34-year-old agricultural engineer Ismail Lghazaoui marched recently through a sea of #Palestinian flags and joined protesters carrying signs that read “Reject the ship,” in reference to a vessel transporting fighter jet components from Houston, Texas."

Coda: The growth of BlueSky, and the novel features it launches with, point to a need for a 2.0 version of ActivityPub. One that fleshes out and updates the protocol based on dev experiences in the first decade of active use, and intentions going forward.

Ideally an AP 2.0 would include a formal mechanism for protocol extensions. One that learns from the experiences of the FEP process.

NEW YORK (AP) — President Donald Trump says he is directing his government to reopen and expand Alcatraz, the notorious former prison on a hard-to-reach California island that has been closed for more than 60 years.

In a post on his Truth Social site Sunday evening, Trump wrote that, “For too long, America has been plagued by vicious, violent, and repeat Criminal Offenders, the dregs of society, who will never contribute anything other than Misery and Suffering. When we were a more serious Nation, in times past, we did not hesitate to lock up the most dangerous criminals, and keep them far away from anyone they could harm. That’s the way it’s supposed to be.”

“That is why, today, I am directing the Bureau of Prisons, together with the Department of Justice, FBI, and Homeland Security, to reopen a substantially enlarged and rebuilt ALCATRAZ, to house America’s most ruthless and violent Offenders,” he wrote, adding: “The reopening of ALCATRAZ will serve as a symbol of Law, Order, and JUSTICE.”
