Submitted for the iNaturalist Southern Hemisphere Bio Blitz, even though I'm (sadly) pushing Tiu all the way up the species leaderboard.

There's a bioblitz for all of the southern hemisphere? That's great!

Yes, it's the annual *Great Southern Bioblitz*, and it starts today and runs for 4 days.

All iNaturalist observations made between 24–27 October in participating regions and countries automatically get added to the Great Southern Bioblitz project. That includes all of New Zealand's regions.

Last year, 9,322 people found 27,015 species. Let's see what we can all find in 2025.

Around 1,300 Leideners found 2,265 species during the Expeditie Stadsnutuur urban biodiversity inventory. ‘It’s been a huge success’, says scientific coordinator Frederic Lens.
