As a beginner, most of my bird in flight shots have been hummingbirds, because they tend to make it easier with their hovering, many comings and goings, & so forth but here is one of my first tries of a flying raptor -- got a few chances because birb was being mobbed by Tropical Kingbirds and had to keep circling around...

A small green hummingbird is flying as if to pass over the viewer's right shoulder (and I would say birb came close to doing just that, these guys are aggressive). There is a determined glint in birb's eye as well as a noticeable violet flash in the lower throat/upper chest area. The green head is also glittery. Our feathered friend was chilling at St. Audoen's Park. As I focused on him, he stared me down and took flight. I didn't think I had gotten the shot in the moment.
