Reflection of the Past

I captured this on a visit to the hangers of WWII flying ace Duncan Miller. Duncan, the self proclaimed mayor of the Nut Tree Airport has several hangers out there.
In this image I have his Model A with a reflection of his C47 in the window. The reflection is converted to B & W to reflect on days gone by. See the full image here: fineartamerica.com/featured/re #ReflectionOnThePast #BillGallagherPhotography #BuyIntoArt #AYearForArt #ModelA #C47 #Classic #Yellow #Antique #Past

Reflection On The Past

This is an image of a Ford Model A captured inside a hangar at Nut Tree Airport in Vacaville.
The paint is a deep yellow that shines flawlessly. There are many chrome accents on the car including the radiator cap, trim around the headlamp and other places.
The window is framed in black painted steel and a windshield wiper hangs down from the frame above.
I converted the portion of the image inside the window frame to black and white.
The reflection in the window is an old, restored C47. Two of the engines with their propellers can be seen in the window along with the front of the fuselage.

Head on view of a twin propellor-engined light blue airliner parked in front of a high grass berm , under a bright but hazy sky.Side view of a single engined light aircraft parked facing to the right, in front of a rather battered looking black hangar. The plane is white on top with a grey belly, and a blue stripe running along the middle. The registration "G-BGTR" is on the rear fuselage in blue. The tail is blue, with a red Liver bird, a tall bird with a long neck and outstretched wings and the symbol of the city of LIverpool, outlined in white. There is a man in black pants and a dark blue jacket standing by the propellor at the front of the plane, holding a metal pole that is attached to the nosewheel. The top right of the frame is bright white sky, and the sun is obviously coming from fairly low on the right, as the plane is throwing a very sharp shadow on the ground behind it, on the lower left of the frame.Side view of a twin engined bizjet parked facing to the left, and slightly towards the camera. The plane is almost entirely white, with a thin blue and black stripe running the length of the body, as well as along the bottom of the engine pods. The registration "I-GOBZ" is on the bottom half of the tail in black. In the background, grass runs off to a wire fence on the left of the frame, and trees on the right, under a wispy grey sky with patches of blue threatening to peek through.Side view of a long, thin, twin propellor-engined airliner parked facing to the left. The plane is mostly white, with a tin green and blue stripe running along the body, and repeated on the top of the tail. There are green "Atlantic Airways" titles under the cockpit windows, and the registration "G-BUKA" on the rear fuselage, the lowest parts of the registration partially obscured by the planes wing. On the tail is a black and white image of a stooping eagle. In the background, the tail of another plane can be seem looming over this plane on the left of the frame, with a green and white striped tent in the middle of the frame, and a blue truck on the right., under a gloomy grey sky.

Side view of a single engined light aircraft parked in a red brick hangar at an airfield. The plane is mostly black, with silver stripes running along the fusleage, trailing behind a group of silver stars on the engine cowling. There is an image of a brown squirrel in a grey Superman-style outfit on the planes tail, under the silver registration "G-IDDY". The plane has fixed undercarriage, with black spats over the wheel, with 3 silver lines trailling behind 3 silver stars. The cockpit has a large bubble canopy, which is covered with a purple blanket or similar cover. In the background, the red brick walls of the hangar are supported by black beams, with covers over most of the windows, while the end wall is metal, with large partially open sliding doors, through whicha plane can be seen parked facing away from the camera. The tails of another couple of light aircraft can be seen behind this one.Side view of a twin engined bizjet taxiing from right to left. The plane is mostly white, with a black and grey stripe running along the body from the nose, growing wider as it reached towards the rear, with a similar stripe on the upturned wingtips. The foreground is an expanse of concrete apron, while the background is grass leading up to trees in the distance, under a grey sky.Side view of a single engined light aircraft parked on display at an air show, facing to the right. The plane is mostly a cream colour, with black stripes running from the nose towards the tail, and the registration "G-FUZZ" on the rear fuse;age. The high-mounted wing, over the top of the cockpit, has several sets of supporting struts coming down, eventually joining the lower fuselage at the rear of the struts that carry the main wheels. The cockpit itself is extensively glazed, and has several seats, arranged in 2 rows. The body of a red plane can be seen through these cockpit windows, with another couple of white planes scattered around in the background, with some people walking past behind metal fences. A large grey hangar dominates the background, next to a tall lighting tower, with another hangar off to the left of the frame. Above, the sky is a dismal grey.Side view of a high-winged, twin-engined jet airliner flying from left to right with the undercarriage lowered and the flaps extended behind the wing, and nose raised steeply, suggesting it has just taken off. The plane is mostly white, with a dark blue belly, and a thin red stripe swooping it's way along the body, turning blue and widening as it sweeps up in to the tail. There is a red arc sweeping from the rear of the tail, forward on to the rear fuselage, and back to the tip of the tail cone. The engine pods are also dark blue. In the background, tall trees line the airfield perimeter, with a tall crane reaching in to the blue-grey sky.

C-47 with parachutist exiting! This C-47 was doing what it was intended to do - only over Barnes Regional Airport, Massachusetts, not Normandy on the 6th of June, 1944. Wearing the invasion stripes promulgated by the Allies at the very last moment (and with the paint often crudely applied by yard brooms), the C-47s, along with Short Stirlings and other aircraft, would make history that night. The parachutist is one of a 'stick' using authentic 'round' chutes replicating those of the period. #C47 #Douglas #DDay #WW2 #SecondWorldWar #Normandy #aircraft #aviation #paratrooper #parachutist #invasionstripes #invasion #France #Normandycampaign #BandofBrothers #Allies #BarnesRegionalAirport #airport #Massachusetts #USA #history #photography #avgeek #6thofJune #ShortStirling #parachute #roundchute #parachutejump #1944 #airport #airborne #USAAF

Last week, I spoke to Senator Tannas' amendment to Bill #C47, the “Budget Bill”. The last page included a consequential Canada #elections Act change, making a non-existent federal #privacy regime for political parties exclusive. Political parties don’t secure consent, aren’t transparent & are accountable to no one. 96% of Cdns want laws limiting #political party use of voter's private info. It was defeated after ~2 hrs of debate but not the desire for change. Full speech bit.ly/3Jr7BEx

C-47A This example of the classic transport aircraft designed by Douglas was one of the workhorses of WW2. Seen here at the Imperial War Museum, Duxford, this fine example of the breed is shown wearing the famous 'D-Day' stripes, and with a heavily weathered paint scheme, appropriate to the period film in which she had taken part. #IWM #Duxford #USAAF #WW2 #invasionstripes #DDay #aircraft #aviation #photography #aviationphotography #avgeek #ImperialWarMuseum #Douglas #C47 #history
