Testing it with #nixbook on #cinnamon and so far it's great!

#Ubuntu #Cinnamon immediately recognized my second monitor, which Mint totally failed to do even after some monkeying. Discord is working, Firefox synched without a hitch, and now I'm trying Steam to check my games. After that, I'll be checking some non-Steam games (Star Trek Online, City of Heroes) and PDF reading. If that all works, I see no impedements to either switching or setting up a dual-boot.

Attempting to create an #Ubuntu #Cinnamon live-drive is a no-go. Etching the ISO causes Windows to stop recognizing the drive at all, requiring me to go into the command line and use #diskpart to clean the drive, create a new partition and reformat. I wonder if I still have blank DVDs...

I still think #KDE sometimes is half baked compared to #Gnome and #Cinnamon.

Even though from a desktop perspective, KDE, out of the box is 95% "user complete" IMO.

Sadly, I just uninstalled #KDEConnect from my two #Linux computers and my phone.

It was such a great tool... when it worked. But that was its problem in my case: half the time I needed it, it had stopped working. For example, in #Debian with #Cinnamon I had to constantly kill and start its process prior to use it. It just became unresponsive after a while. By contrast, in #Debian with #GNOME, as an extension, I had to restart the whole desktop environment in order to get it back to work.

Given that the main benefit of KDE Connect for me was to share text or files between a computer and my phone, I decided to replace it with something as simple as a #XMPP private channel.

Je m’attends, tôt ou tard, à devoir basculer vers #Cinnamon ou Mate, si #GNOME abandonne #X11 comme annoncé. Je n’ai pas d’autre choix.

Linux Mint 22.1 Cinnamon is ok for now, that's all I care about.

Ein halbes Jahr Distrohopping und endlich angekommen. Linux Mint Debian Edition ist einfach mein System. Alles läuft auf Anhieb: Maus, Drucker, Funktionstasten, Bluetooth, WLAN,... Alle Distros von Arch, Zorin, Ubuntu, Fedora, MX Linux und Co haben nicht so gut funktioniert. Ich bin begeistert.

So something annoying i've notice since upgrading to #nixos 25.05.. both in gnome AND cinnamon...

I think its daily, i get a notification that says "Updates are out of date".

And when you click on it, it takes you to gnome software center, which is up to date, but with an error that it couldn't hit flathub.

I have my flatpak updates automatic,.. if there a way to just turn off this weird notifcation?

Als noch recht frischer Linux-Neunutzer bin ich mir auch mit Google noch nicht ganz klar, wo ich hinsichtlich Treibern für Grafikkarten am besten aufgehoben bin:
#LinuxMint fühlt sich schon ganz schick an, vor allem hinsichtlich Wechsel von Windows.
#Ubuntu mit #Cinnamon wirkt auch "gut". Zudem habe ich Ubuntu bei sehr vielen Apps und Treibern als unterstützt gefunden.

Für mich steht die Alltagsnutzung im Vordergrund. Habt ihr Empfehlungen?
