A massive 307 (+17.1%) Active #COVID-19 outbreaks in Australian residential aged care facilities as at 26 June 2025.
That’s 2,446 (+24.0%) Active cases, with 694 (+28.0%) in staff. That’s a lot of sick staff.
I’ve been in a well run res care facility suffering an outbreak - it steals a lot of time & energy from everyone (staff, residents, family, visitors) & is about the least productive thing that can happen.
When did this pandemic start? We must be able to do better than this! Mask up, especially in social settings with vulnerable people or with a lot of people whose Covid-19 status you can’t possible know (a lot - maybe 30% are asymptomatic: they’re infectious but have no symptoms); clean the air - a range of filters are available; get vaccinated & stay home when sick. Let’s add pressuring #PublicHealth & governments to do more so the burden isn’t always on those least able to contribute.
Surely we can’t go on like this!! 🙁

For my birthday & Stonewall Riots anniversary tomorrow (June 28), I would love if you would wear an N95 or comparable mask! I especially invite allies, friends & family of disabled people, and anyone who attends work/school/hobbies/etc where someone else wears a respirator to wear one. (A respirator is the technical term for masks with N95 or comparable protection ratings.)
It would mean even more if you wore your well-fitting respirator in public, or told some friends about it! Please join us at #SaltingTheVibes or #YallMasking across the internet. I can’t wait to see the top part of your faces or read what you have written, posted, filmed, etc.
As for the Stonewall tie-in, Queer people are higher risk for Long Covid, and yet pride events are often inaccessible to many queer & disabled people. If you’re going to a pride event this weekend and wear a respirator, you are actively helping protect your communities from developing chronic health conditions, severely worsening existing chronic illness, and frankly, death.
I’m only asking you to wear a respirator at some point on or near June 28. If you only do it for the photo, at least you learned where to find one, and practiced wearing it again. But who knows, if we’re lucky, you might find it more comfortable than you thought, or even remember how great it is to not have people see your facial expression, and wear a respirator a bit more frequently.

My asks are very simply masking, at the very least, in places where disabled and immunocompromised people have to be: grocery stores, medical settings such as doctors, offices, pharmacies, hospitals, and transportation like planes, trains and buses.
Even as an act of solidarity, picking a couple of those places, making a commitment to that and making that known is incredibly important. As someone who feels extremely isolated and abandoned by the rest of society, I don’t have the capacity any more to ask individual people in my life if they will take this on. That’s what the video was for.

A lot of us in #NYC have spent time indoors to escape the heat wave, but so far there's no sign of a summer #COVID wave! Deaths continue to drop, with 20 reported over the most recent 30 days.
Sadly, #CovidIsNotOver and it looks like #COVID19 hospitalizations may bottom out at 13-15 per day, which is not great!
I still #WearAMask in crowded places like elevators, trains and buses, and #MaskUp where there are vulnerable people, like doctors' offices, pharmacies, hospitals and supermarkets!
I'm watching a longer video that @violetblue included in the email update today. This short video was highlighted in that video. This is applicable throughout the entire world. It's sobering, but it is absolutely true.
My youngest kiddo (young adult) has tested positive for #COVID for the first time. That’s right — she’s been so diligent about masking and vaxxing for 5+ years! She’s devastated because it’s right before her birthday.
What are the latest protocols? Honestly, I do not trust the CDC under RFKjr.

@rogerparkinson I am so sorry about your family. It's more than just disappointing; it's dangerous and thoughtless to ignore public health advisories out of vanity. So many people have suffered from this disease's contagions and mutations which people are augmenting. Here in WA state, there is a dramatic shortage of medical support throughout all systems because of the same behaviors you describe.

Ich hoffe, @dielinke @GrueneBundestag und auch #SPD lassen sie nicht damit durchkommen.
Zwar trägt die Frau in der Zeichnung eine OP-Maske und es wird "symptomatischen Besucherinnen und Besuchern das Tragen einer Maske" nur empfohlen. Aber immerhin ist dieser Hinweis ziemlich weit oben auf der Webseite und er ist jetzt wohl das ganze Jahr dort zu sehen.
Man freut sich auch an kleinen Dingen.
