Been working at getting my #Logitech G920 racing wheel up and running with #Snowrunner on my #SteamDeck in preparation for the #SteamMachine & general #SteamOS use. Needed to install usb_modeswitch to get the wheel to switch to PC mode when connected, but otherwise it’s been very smooth.

I can get Snowrunner to detect the wheel, map everything correctly, and it works as expected. The only issue is that there is zero force feedback. It’s not a system issue as far as I can tell as I get FFB on the wheel in #Forza and #Dirt, but not Snowrunner. Anyone have ideas? I’m inclined to say it’s a Snowrunner problem, but I’m not sure if I should try using ffbwrap to see if I limit the updates in case Snowrunner is flooding the wheel with commands and breaking the queue? But my impression is that would be delayed FFB, not no FFB.

The EPB appears innocent. This one seems to be just stuck pads from sheer accumulation of dirt (the roads out here range from terrible to nonexistant, although we do try to stay off the gravel roads if possible). German cars are not made for this.

I had pressure washed this sometime before the first frost, which was less than 2 months ago or so? So all that crud is since then, plus now with road salt added 😬

Took it all apart, cleaned and just on putting the second side back together. Hopefully that'll sort it. Would be nice to have at least one working car 😩

Asked my Associate Dean why she had a box of 'dirt' on her shelf.

She made it very clear that it was soil, specifically a core and that it was way more complicated and there are 300 types of soil.

She loves soil science.

Anyways, if you want to learn too from the reference she told me about but didn't really expect me to start reading. Don't underestimate the nerds :)

Hey just a friendly reminder since folk are doing flu and covid vax rn to not forget about TDaP! Many places recommend a fresh boost if you have a tetanus exposure and its been at least five years since your last one, and it should be boosted every 10 years regardless. While people associate tetanus with rusty nails and barb wire fencing, it lives in the soil. So if you play in the dirt (looking at cavers, gardeners, outdoorsy folk in general) you may be due sooner than you think. Folk like us often have abrasions or cuts on our hands from doing things, and then shove our hands into dirt and mud. Keep that in mind! Plus it seems like every other winter there is a new whooping cough outbreak and thats the P part of TDaP so its an easy one to forget about but a good one to stay up on.

Now that you are protected, go flip some rocks! (And make sure you gently put them back!)
