Hallo meine lieben Lebensformen,
heute haben wir u.a. Kleiber beobachtet. Auf dem ersten Bild ist ehr bei seiner Namensgebenden Tätigkeit zu sehen. Er verputzt das Einflugloch seiner Neubauwohnung mit einem Lehm-Speichel-Gemisch um das Loch so kleiner zu machen. Das soll später die Brut vor größeren Eindringlingen schützen. Kleiber sind Handwerker, die Lehmwände erstellen.

Tiere sind Freunde und kein Essen oder eine Plage.
Bleibt gesund, glücklich und verliebt. 
Der schlimmste Seelenschmerz ist das Fernweh.

Hello, my dear life forms,

Today, among other things, we observed nuthatches, which are called "Kleiber" in German. In the first picture, you can see one performing the task that gave it its name. Just like the traditional craftsmen known as "Kleiber," who build walls out of clay, this bird plasters the entrance hole of its new home with a mixture of clay and saliva. By making the opening smaller, it helps protect its brood from larger intruders.

Animals are friends, not food or a nuisance.

A Eurasian Nuthatch posturing with it's beak wide open and wings outstretched, this whilst perched on a fallen tree bough which runs along in the foreground, there is an old branch scar towards the left which points toward the subject. A nuthatch has sharp large claws perfect for clinging to trees, it's beak is long and when closed looks very dagger like. Their underparts are a gingery orange colour their heads are white below black eye stripe with very bluish grey extending to shoulders back and tail. There are other black and white markings on the tail. The background is out of focus making the bird stand out. There are signs of over sharpening due to focus being slightly soft and the image being cropped heavily to exclude the tail of the bird it was chasing away. That happened to be another nuthatch but only the tail was visible. The cropped image works so much better.

The Eurasian nuthatch or Wood nuthatch is a small, plump bird with a distinctive blue-grey back, a rusty-red underside, and a black eye stripe. It is found throughout Europe and Asia, inhabiting mature deciduous or mixed woodlands. Nuthatches are agile climbers, capable of moving both up and down tree trunks with equal ease. A Eurasian nuthatch vocalising on a log. Photographed in January; edited today. Yet another edit where I learned something new, this time it's combating banding by using bilateral blur instead of guassian but with a little bit of gaussian painted in where the bilateral didn't cut it. Usually have to introduce noise to combat banding using gaussian alone but didn't need to do that at all. Result! #Nikon #AffinityPhoto2 #EurasianNuthatch

A nuthatch with it's beak open as it makes some of it's characterful noises. It's perched on a wavy old log extending from lower left to upper right and filling the whole lower half of the frame, star like shapes of rhododendron leaves splay out in the background but as the text suggests they are blurred. A nuthatch is about as long as our hand and has blue upper parts, cream coloured face with black eyestripe, lower parts are creamy orange with darker orange streaks. Sharp claws for tree climbing can be clearly seen and it has a very pointed beak. You can just see it's tongue in this shot.
