#FernFriday

This week's episode of #Farnsehen is a little deceptive, because this #asparagusFern isn't a fern at all, but a close relative of we-eat-them-white-you-eat-them-green #asparagus. But it's so pretty, I'm featuring it as a guest #fern. 😊🪴

This image features a potted asparagus fern placed on a table. The fern has delicate, feathery green fronds that arch gracefully outward, casting intricate shadows on the light-coloured, textured wall behind it. The plant is housed in a small, woven pot with a natural, rustic appearance.

I have a contribution to #FernFriday! These are foxtail fern, sold at my local farmers market in November last year.

This week's episode of #Farnsehen takes us back to #NewboroughWarren (or #TywynNiwbwrch in Welsh), where Corsican and Scots pines were planted on artificial dunes from the 1940s to the 1960s to provide timber, stabilize the shifting dunes, and protect the nearby village from sand encroachment. The #ferns love it here, too. Now though, the sand is receding for various reasons, and some trees are being removed to help restore the sand habitat. Nature is hard work, constantly shifting and evolving, with seemingly small things, like fewer rabbits, threatening the balance. ⚖️

A close-up view of a lush, green forest floor, densely covered with vibrant fern fronds. The ferns, with their delicate, feathery leaves, dominate the foreground, creating a rich tapestry of greenery. In the background, the trunks of tall trees rise, their bark a mix of dark and light shades, suggesting a mature woodland. The scene is bathed in natural light, filtering through the canopy above, casting soft shadows and highlighting the intricate details of the ferns and forest floor.

Photo taken this summer during a photo workshop. I liked the intricate details of the fern. I positioned myself so the background was dark. Nothing distracts the eye of the viewer. Keep it simple is my motto in photography.

You didn't think I'd forget #Farnsehen, did you?

#Ferns and #slate, two of the best things about #Wales, if you ask me 💚🩶💚

This image depicts a close-up of a weathered stone wall constructed from horizontally layered slate tiles. The tiles exhibit a mix of grey, black, and brown tones, giving the wall a natural and rustic texture. Small green ferns are sprouting from the crevices between the slate layers, adding a touch of vibrant life to the otherwise rugged surface. Scratched into the surface of some slate tiles are various graffiti marks, including names and messages.
