Glass bottles [sealed with plastic caps] found to contain more microplastics than plastic bottles

phys.org/news/2025-06-glass-bo

> Drinks including water, soda, beer and wine sold in glass bottles contain more microplastics than those in plastic bottles, according to a surprising study released by France's food safety agency Friday.

I wonder whether corks or rubber seals for canning jar could be a solution.

Curious to see where this preprint lands, but it looks like an important contribution to the debate about #plastics and #chemical #recycling.
Key finding in the abstract “when assessed across the full production value chain, closed-loop chemical recycling pathways could increase emissions by 3-84% compared to continued primary #plastic production by 2050”. It’s an open question if major technological improvements could plausibly overcome this. researchsquare.com/article/rs-

A Global #Plastics Treaty would mean every government would have to reduce their plastic, and be accountable for their country’s plastic waste. Finally, we could limit clothes #manufacturers’ destruction.
