What is impressive here is the availability of this feature in - when compared with competing programming environments:

* only has crude runtimes like , and .

* wheels seems equally constrained with supporting plain, e.g., , and .

Not to mention in general with support for e.g. , , and

Whatever the number of applications of specific binaries.

The #OpenPrinting #CUPS #Snap is now available for #RISCV in the Snap Store!

To build it it just needed to add #riscv64 as supported architecture in the snapcraft.yaml file.

I has taken 2:30 hours (!) to build on my #DeepComputing / #Framework RISC-V board, and the build servers of the Snap Store need the same time to build it.

Thanks to Heinrich Schuchardt (xypron), RISC-V expert at #Canonical, for providing me a kernel which does bridge networking.

Screenshot of terminal window, with command "uname -a" showing that we are running on the RISC-V architecture and command "snap info cups" showning that we have the CUPS Snap for this system available in the Snap StoreScreenshot of Snap Store listing of the CUPS Snap, with release window open, showing availability for RISC-V.

Trying to install some python on my RiscV Ubuntu box and I keep running into different low level dependencies as there are no pre-compiled wheel packages.

If I had

1. FTTP
2. A spare Star Five board

I would volunteer some build resource.

#Introduction

Starting a fresh new profile, let's introduce me.

I'm Nicolas from north of France, I like old computers, I have a collection of #amiga, #C64, #amstrad, #atari. I also like #computerhistory and started to code emulators, I made a #teletype, #altair and #Intel8080 emulator, and also a #Z80 then a #trs80 emulator coded in #rust. Currently experimenting with #Zig, and #riscv64 assembly.

I really need to setup a crossbuild environment for #pkgsrc ...
Building rust which is a dependency for ansible on the #VisionFive2 is now in its third day of building and I'd like it to be done by Friday ^^'

As much as I love source based package management like #pkgsrc on @netbsd ... this has been running for 10 hours and all I want is my weechat instance xD
Yeah the VisionFive 2 isn't exactly fast ^^'
Also USB works with the latest current image for riscv 💪🏻

I sort of accept that EFI forces a RISC-V 64 bit bootloader to adhere to Windows binary formats, somewhat less why does it need to show that it's not compatible with DOS, but I'm dumbfounded by the fact that I can see int 21h being called in the preamble...

#riscv64 #riscv #int21h #pic64gx

Unix file identification tool output and hexdump for an EFI boot image for en EFI64 platform. It describes it has RISC-V 64-bit architecture, and that it's targeted for Windows, and the file apparently starts with the well known message "This program cannot be run in DOS mode", on a platform that is not known to run Windows and was never capable of running DOS.

So since the irradium #Crux #Linux derivate on my #VisionFive2 was broken (didn't boot anymore without any errors, just froze) and I never liked this distro anyway I was looking for alternatives... and for some reason the @netbsd generic "qemu" image... just booted and installed out of the box xD

Just booted Parch Linux on #RiscV64 Qemu

unfortunately i don`t have a bare metal hardware to test the image on it so i do the development inside of the Qemu.

I was able to boot Alpine on hifive permier p550

alpine:~# uname -a
Linux alpine 6.6.67-0-eswin #1-Alpine SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Thu, 26 Dec 2024 14:02:15 +0000 riscv64 Linux

But I'm not sure if linux-eswin is a good name for the kernel package.

@zital interesting at #Trisquel we pretend to support #riscv64 on the next release, having a Debian node would be a good way to start a building node.

I wonder how hard would it be to compile major packages like Linux, Firefox, Thunderbird, LibreOffice source packages maybe too much to ask o_O

I need to ask one for Christmas 🎄 so we can test it

The #AlpineLinux linux-lts kernel finally has #riscv64 enabled git.alpinelinux.org/aports/com

It might work on VisionFive v2, but I have no idea if it actually does.

It's alive!!!

#HardenedBSD booting to multiuser on the #VisionFive #StarFive2 #riscv64 SBC.

Serial console output from the StarFive VisionFive2 UART.

Progress! It looks like the #HardenedBSD ASLR implementation might need some tweaking on #riscv64.

Panic on the StarFive VisionFive2 due to the HardenedBSD ASLR implementation not being able to map the VDSO into the process' address space.

Does anyone have a working #FreeBSD sdcard image for the StarFive VisionFive2 SBC? The image I'm working on doesn't boot to multiuser (the login prompt). It fails to find a working root filesystem.
