When the calamity reaches their doorsteps, there is outcry and demands from early victims yet still no concerted effort to mitigate the threats are made.

Only with #calamity and #death all around, when the bells have been silenced, when society is disrupted and civilisation collapses do the people rue their inactions and lack of preparations.

Thus societies and civilisations alike undergo #upheavals and the horrendous cosls of enforced #changes.

And so the wheel of history turns, as it ever did, and is turning again.

We need to be clear about one thing. Our problems – from #climate change to right-wing #extremism – are just a litmus test showing that our #civilization, our #culture and our #societies are no longer functioning properly. These problems show us something important. That is why they are our #opportunity, if we use them correctly.

The changes in the world we live in are only making us feel so #insecure because we seek the #meaning of our lives in the outside world. When it changes rapidly, it pulls the rug out from under our feet. This #change in sentiment is creeping (a quantitative change in the #system), but it can reach a tipping point at which the system (i.e. our Western #societies) undergoes a negative qualitative change. This would suddenly weaken our #civilization, perhaps even break it.

The biggest problem of our #civilization is that we are doing the wrong thing more and more perfectly. All our difficulties are a consequence of this one problem: the destruction of #nature, the declining quality of #life, the feeling that we as #societies are at a loss, that we as individuals do not really feel #happy, the growing gap between #rich and #poor...
All these developments are the result of our ongoing efforts to do the wrong thing better and better.

Sooooo I watched new #contrapoints video and it got me thinking. What if everyting is actually controlled by #profit making schemes? Its like evolution but for profit.

Evolution is not random. Just as economy but applying profit making as natural selection on #societies suggests that there is not better way than natural selection. Which is wong thinking. Literally humans play around with vaccines based on genes therapy. Lets just apply this to #capitalism. :meblowingkisstoyourcheekdrunk:
