🧵 Continuing my journey of using #NDI in #eventtech on #Linux.
So, NDI #video streams created by #OBS can easily be received by OBS again.
Another nifty tool is this old #DisplayLink docking station with #DisplayPort and #DVI output. I managed to install its proprietary driver on #UbuntuStudio #Linux 24.04.
This old USB3 tech gives you 2 extra screens, so you have 4 screens for your laptop (including the internal one).
And, needless to say, I can feed this signal then into my video switcher using a full screen source display from OBS. Hence you could use OBS to decode 3 NDI streams and send them out via HDMI (if your laptop is strong enough).
However, this is too hacky for event tech because when I switch virtual desktops, the full screen display goes away, and I can also open windows on top of it.
This would work using a #Blackmagic #UltraMonitor device. (Also with Linux/OBS)
