🔧 Windows Hotfix 1.18.1 Released

We fixed an issue on certain Windows systems where update checks and unlocking Cryptomator Hub vaults could fail.

The root cause was related to HTTPS certificate validation. On some Windows installations, required root certificates were not available, causing secure connections to be rejected.

This hotfix ensures the necessary certificates are bundled with the app.

Please update to the latest version.

A maybe very peculiar question but I wonder if anyone has been using Cryptomator on android for their note-
taking app to synchronise with a desktop.

I wasn't able to find any software architecture document about it and there aren't enough info online about how cryptomator performs on android in practice. I've read both good and bad reviews however none of them addresses this particular scenario, and I would like to estimate the practicality and feasibility before I commit to it.

thanks to #kdeconnect / #gsconnect and #unison I have a #syncthing like experience.

I only have to start the sync manually via terminal, which actually is ok.
Because my wife uses only her smartphone, I can sync weekly my digital heritage (all the important files in #cryptomator) to her phone.
This way she has all the stuff she needs in case a an accident or death.

Seit ein paar Wochen hab ich meinen ersten Laptop mit #Linux (von @tuxedocomputers).

Abends immer wieder ein bisschen rumgebastelt, Cloud-Laufwerke eingebunden, System- und Home-Backups eingerichtet, #Cryptomator-Tresore und manch anderes über #Nextcloud, dies das jenes.

Kaum was hat auf Anhieb geklappt, aber meistens im zweiten Anlauf. Viel gelernt dabei. Und inzwischen fühle ich mich auf Linux ähnlich heimisch wie einst auf macOS.

Und es macht Spaß und fühlt sich soooo gut an!!

Anyone get #Cryptomator working on #AlpineLinux? There doesn't seem to be an apk. The flatpak, appimage, and cli don't seem to work by default. Assuming the only other option is chroot. The documents for alpine linux chroot seem different from what I recall. Curious if there's a simpler option.

This exact method of combining Cryptomator and Syncthing for Obsidian E2EE sync just came out from a chatbot, which means someone somewhere wrote this "originally" without stating which threat model this is for.

They also seem to have confused public cloud service provider, which users have no control on security, with self-host which users have.

Install Cryptomator on all devices.
Create a new vault called ObsidianVault.
Inside the mounted Cryptomator drive, create or move your Obsidian vault folder.
Install Syncthing and add the Cryptomator vault’s hidden folder (the .vault directory) as a synced folder.
On each device, start Cryptomator, unlock the vault with the same password, and open the vault in Obsidian.
Syncthing now synchronizes the encrypted .vault files; your notes stay private.

Ich bin hier halt ziemlich zufrieden, wie das bisher läuft:

- Meine Graphen liegen in meiner eigenen #nextcloud. Der Nextcloud-Client übernimmt den Sync. Da ich nicht gleichzeitig am Notebook und Desktop mit #logseq arbeite, hat das bisher ohne Dateikonflikte funktioniert.
- ein Graph mit sensiblen Daten liegt zudem in einem #cryptomator-Container. Damit sind die Daten auch #e2e-verschlüsselt.
