Intrigued By The LLMs.txt
I know many people feel that letting the AI engines have your content you’re aiding and abetting bad behavior on the part of these AI companies.
To some extent I agree, but I also want my content to be surfaced in these new AI search engines.
I can see why news publishers wouldn’t want this. But for companies getting the citations before their competitors do that seems ideal.
I need to dig more into the LLMs.txt file and how it works and keep up with it. I’ll report more and I learn more.
It looks like it’s still in its infancy, but it’s definitely something to keep an eye on.

I regularly answer to a #toot with just a bunch of #hashtags related to the content or media of the said #post.
It's not only a matter of search engine optimization (#SEO), but also a stake of #findability for this #content.
If search engines (#DuckDuckGo, #Kagi, #SearxNG...) may index your #Mastodon account, according to you settings,
the software itself does not index a toot unless it has a #hashTag.
@sunsetdriver just optimizing #SEO / #findability because #Mastodon #devs can't be assed to implement working #FullTextSearch or any other #QualityOfLife #features...
@njsg @feditips there are those communities under a.gup.pe.
- As for Hashtags, they are a "necessary evil" due to the decentralized nature of the Fediverse.
One can however seperate them below and most clients will then put them in a seperate section.

Why are remote controls nearly always black plastic?
TV, Amazon Fire, Soundbar, Roku, OSMC and they are just the ones I can see right now. There are others in drawers.
They are all black.
Why aren't they made in colours that are easier to spot?
Does anyone have some creative solutions?
I'm not too keen on Slack. I’m having issues with findability - at least in the mac app. For instance, I don’t necessarily think it is easy finding the particular chat for which recent notifications belong to. It is just cluttered.

To improve the #findability of Swiss-AL, we aim to have Swiss-AL listed in repositories & databases researchers use to find research data. E.g., we are in exchange with SWISSUbase, specifically LaRS, a Swiss language data repository allowing us to describe data systematically. Additionally, we are working on making Swiss-AL findable in the European CLARIN community's search tools. This involves describing Swiss-AL according to existing metadata standards.

MAKE DAMN SURE THAT YOUR SERVER RULES ARE EASILY FINDABLE!!!!
I'm about to defederate from an instance with over 500 members because of this. I went to the server's page, and I cannot find the rules. If I don't find the rules, I assume that anything goes.
Again, the rules should be EASY to find, like, right on the front page!
No, I'm not going to contact anyone at the target of my block to try to rectify the situation. There just aren't enough hours in the day for this.

A social media system without discoverability makes a mockery of either the word "social" or the word "media" but I'm not sure which.
Or possibly it just promises too much or too little (or possibly both at once).
But either way it won't work for a lot of people.
