Leica might make their own M12 sensor

Sony dominates the sensor market, especially the full frame cmos sensor market. i am curious if there is a path for Leica to invest in technologies that can truly move the market forward and maybe faster than sony is currently moving it.

of particular note, i hope they also push the needle on smaller cameras and lenses with bigger sensors. they are sticking to the 35mm full frame system because of legacy and their line of lenses that were designed for it. while a tremendous engineering challenge, id support them breaking that legacy if they can end up creating a simpler, smaller, better system, which is what leica started out as. leica became the brand it is today by focusing on the “cheaper” and more mainstream 35mm film compared to other options at the time.

this is particularly interesting as DJI is poised to enter the mirrorless market. given the number of m mount lenses coming from the chinese market, i am going to be very curious if dji might continue the trend or i hope they adopt the current top of the line – z mount from nikon!
