Estava dando uma olhada no #Nitrux. Não instalei (nem tenho máquina adequada para isso no momento), mas fiquei bastante curioso para brincar com ela.

É mais uma distribuição #Linux imutável em XFS, orientada em torno de AppBoxes (um formato autocontido e em caixa de areia, com um repositório derivado da biblioteca de pacotes do #Debian) e de contêineres rootless (daqueles que hoje podemos subir em minutos com o #Podman nos bastidores, usando o #Distrobox e o #Boxbuddy).

Ela adota o #OpenRC como init system. Conta ainda com um utilitário de linha de comando pensado para virtualização com passagem de GPU. É o tipo de sistema para instalar num desktop tradicional ou mini-PC docável, no qual há o desejo de rodar o #Windows em conjunto com o Linux.

So far, I don't think any OS I've ever run on my laptop has been as responsive as #AlpineLinux. Even running #Gnome, the heaviest of DEs with a buncha #systemd that has to be worked around in a #BusyBox - #OpenRC environment, it was super fast to boot and just quick to use.

I have to imagine that now that I'm moving away from Gnome, it would be even more zippy.

So I'm leaning in that direction.

Gentoo Linux on my mini PC: Encrypted root + BTRFS with subvolumes + OpenRC + Limine bootloader. Its a start! ✅

Distro-hopping now on pause. Month of March is all about Gentoo. Plan is to take this base system and build it up to a lightweight desktop with Wayland + TBD window manager.

I now having a working configuration of Gentoo (in a VM) with a combination of root encryption + BTRFS + OpenRC + Limine bootloader. ✅

think i finally found a feature that #systemd has that i actually need

so apparently #GNOME's wayland session, when run via GDM, does not read the user's .profile to update its environment variables and such -- the X11 session used to do this, but the #wayland one doesn't

on systemd, it is possible to specify user-wide environment variables with files in the ~/.config/environment.d/ directory

and there seems to be no equivalent for that in #AlpineLinux or its #OpenRC init system

PSA: don't use pam_openrc to do your user services on login unless you want SSHing in and then closing the SSH session to stop all your user services

with pam_openrc, it goes "oops that's a logout!" and stops everything.

Instead you can put /sbin/openrc -U default in ~/.xsessionrc or... whatever the Wayland equivalent is. There probably isn't one. You're probably just screwed (or need to do something per-DE).

Arg. Switched our server to OpenRC (on Debian), now LXC containers don't start on boot.

We've enabled their autostart setting and doing sudo rc-service lxc restart starts them just fine, but they crash during boot!

Received container state "ABORTING" instead of "RUNNING"

Any ideas?

Gestern war wieder so ein Tag, wo ich glücklich war, dass ich #Gentoo mit #OpenRC einsetzen darf. Auf #RaspberryPiOS mit #systemd für meinen #pihole kriege ich nach dem Upgrade auf #Trixie dhcpcd nicht als Service zum Laufen. Blöd beim headless-Betrieb.

Obwohl ich den Pfad in der Config angepasst und neu eingelesen habe, versucht er noch die falsche Executable zu starten....das Internet ist auch keine Hilfe. Neuer Anlauf mit frischem Kopf in den nächsten Tagen.
