Semanas atrás el estado emocional se repitió al aplaudir a cuatro manos (no pregunten) el single Jungle. Siobhán, Mutya y Keisha ahora demuestran que lo de Jungle no fue casual: están en un buen momento.

Sin venderse a estilos muy moda ni recurrir a colaboraciones desesperadas, manteniendo su impronta y expandiéndola a la vez, de una, demuestran lo definido con Shook, que, encima, suena a jerga drag.

Con una melodía marca de la casa redondeada al alza, verdaderamente bonita y ultrapop, las Sugababes tiran estrellas y convierten cualquier espacio en una pista de baile, una de esas que, como ayer decía, tanto estamos echando en falta esta temporada.

Shook te deja shocked. Quienes me sigan en mis listas o en los envíos de emepetrés ya lo saben. Ya habrán padecido y disfrutado de este calambre.

No es baladí la comparación. Este sencillo es un electropop como un sol perfectamente casado con las voces del trío y su particular swing, ese que las hizo famosas hace la tira y que parece inamovible.

Ni antiguo ni moderno, suena antes que nada atemporal (o a una actualización divina de la vibra dosmilera). Y, mucho mejor, a ellas mismas. Justo la personalidad que tanto extrañamos hoy en día es lo que sobra en Shook. Seguridad, estilo, vibes. Con los ojos cerrados podrías identificar quienes la han compuesto y la cantan. Por esto es un single que nos gustaría ver en los tops de las mejores listas y contar con el beneplácito de la prenda cultural.

Sin duda es de lo mejor del año. No merece ser un tema de nicho, sino reventarlos y conquistar cada antro y cada habitación.

Lanzo el deseo al aire, desde la euforia.

A view from the sidewalk up at the Standard Insurance Center in Downtown Portland reveals vast concrete framing and seemingly endless vertical windows beneath a clear blue sky.

Ever watch/listen to something when you were a small child and now can't remember exactly what it was? This photo reminds me of a scene from an '80s/'90s film (I would've viewed it around 1992-94 or so), where two pre-teen boys are walking around a very small arched pedestrian bridge on a cloudy day in what looks to be the English countryside(?) One of them is your average schoolboy (think Bastian Bux from The Neverending Story), and the other seems to be carrying a basketball-sized bright, glowing orb of some sort. I swear I remember the second boy casually hanging upside down by his legs from the bridge while chatting with the first. Maybe it was a kind of first meeting scene for the two of them, though it's hard to say. Anyway, this photo—while of a *much* larger bridge (theirs was about 30 feet/9 meters in length over a very small stream)—reminds me of that scene, and it's the only one I remember from the film. How I long to see it again 🎞️
