So I am trying to boot #FreeBSD on my #LibreComputerAlta featuring an #A311D. I have tried boot only aarch64 image. The SoC supports upstream #uboot. FreeBSD bootloader comes up, some text are corrupted and USB keyboard doesn't work. Anyway it boots into the installer, tries loading kernel then it prints error that these files are not there:
/etc/hostid
/boot/entropy
I'm guessing that the bootloader is supposed to populate these files. Anyway, if you have hints, let me know. I will study about FreeBSD boot process myself after lunch.
PS: I don't want to use FreeBSD on my #SBC. I want to use the GPU and the #NPU and I'm, pretty sure FreeBSD hasn't got support for those. But I want to collect some data and make it public in the case anyone was interested.
PS2: At some point I might be interested in adding driver support to FreeBSD myself, if I could do it with #Rust. The plan would be for the next 1-2 years, God willing.

Do you know an low power #SBC which has got both an #AP(Application Processor) and an #MCU(micro controller) and TRMs(Technical reference manual) are available in English in the public?
I don't need something fancy. A Cortex-A7 for the AP with at least 128MB RAM is enough. #riscv is okay too.
The only one I know is #milkvduo. The SoC has got an application processor(either RISC-V or 1xCortex-A53), and two MCUs.
Also I want the SBC to have #Wifi.
Also I want something cheap. not more than 25 USD.

Ich suche aktuell ein Board, dass kompatibel zu Raspberry Pi HATs ist (also 40 Pin Connector und die passenden Mounting Holes), aber im industriellen Umfeld gut aufgehoben ist. What is the smallest #SBC / #SingleBoardComputer or #MiniPC with m.2 #nvme #storage? :)
Trying to decide if a 2-bay NAS is overkill (for me who does not know what she's doing anyway) and if a single board computer like the Zima board is enough for a start.
The latter is decidedly cheaper too.
You know, for a start into the home server thing.
Any advice? This is your chance.
Just to be clear: I've been researching this for months, maybe even years by now. I have ideas about which NAS to get (if I should go that route), and I am mentioning the Zima board deriberatley (instead of a Raspberry Pi). So I'm not a super clueless noob noob. But still unsure enough.
Edited to add that I am in the EU. Maybe that‘s useful info for those who might want to reply.
