A Fox Squirrel (Sciurus niger) was hiding in the fork of an oak tree in Norman, Oklahoma, United States on May 23, 2025. There are lichen and Virginia Creeper (Parthenocissus quinquefolia) vines on the tree trunk.

For #SpookySaturday, I have this spine-chilling #wood #sculpture that guards the entrance of #BurgRegenstein castle. 💀 If I remember correctly, it's called The Eternal Guard or #Knight. I think this tree collapsed a few years ago, but since it was such a landmark on the castle grounds, local woodcarvers offered to turn it into a sculpture

A tall, intricate tree carving depicts a medieval knight as a skeleton, holding a shield and a sword. The knight's armour and helmet are detailed, and the shield features an elaborate design. Black and white. Landscape format. Shot in a deciduous forest on a foggy day. Several trees stretch upwards with their trunks branchless in the lower part. The fog makes them appear in various shades of gray to black, creating depth in the picture and inviting the eye to explore. On a path in a dense part of the woods a long thick branch lies such that it is blocking the easy way forward. The close end of the now dead trunk points to near the camera position, the end in the bushes, while the far end sits next to the tree it fell down from, several metres high up. It looks kind of fresh, as if the split has just been several days ago. The sky visible is pale and overcast.

An old tree trunk lies flat on a slighty parched meadow. The log is about large human sized but much thicker, from an old tree and visibly withered. It lies left to right without direct sunshine on it int he foreground, while in mid distance the wide open meadow is visibly basked in sunlight. On its far part of an old building is visible, hidden by the log and bushes. The sky is bright with clouds here and there.

Golden pothos, AKA “devil’s ivy,” can grow up to 40ft tall (12m) and is noted for its air purifying trait. NASA did a study and found it can even potentially eliminate formaldehyde. It originated from South East Asia and the Solomon Islands, and now lives as house plants and tree adornments globally.

I like the sedum (I think it is Sedum sarmentosum, stringy stonecrop) that grows around a big oak tree by our house. It's vibrant after some recent rain.
