Great initiative by the residents in Ardkeen and along Williamstown Road and the Dunmore Road. We need our local government to provide proper segregated cycle paths in order to improve safety and reduce traffic by giving people the option to cycle safely instead of driving!

Redesigning roads and intersections to put humans first – The Bellingen case
Bellingen just 'upgraded' Gleniffer Road (The $5.2M “gate way to the Promised Land”) and North Bank Road. Both put fossil fuel vehicles first and forgot emission free mobility for people.
But cyclists and foot traffic deserve the same direct routes that motorists have. Elsewhere they rethink transport planning to promote safer cycling and walking options. Another missed opportunity to put Bellingen on the map for pollution free country cruising.

Today’s #cycle trip was to #Exmouth which is about 18 km away by #bike mostly on #cyclepaths. It has been a bright sunny day but still a bit cool. This is a #photograph of the #ExeEstuary which opens out into the #EnglishChannel. It was #LowTide and so you can see #SandBanks in the middle of the #estuary which form a #habitat for #birds but also a #NavigationalHazard. You can see the opposite #bank too which is in #Starcross.

Smashing a wider, straighter road through the forest will encourage increased #traffic, #speeding and #roadkill. The stated rationale is to get more visitors to the “the popular tourist destination of the #PromisedLand. ” The 'Scenic Drive' might loose some of that picturesque charm, but one can get faster to the #NeverNever loo.
