OFC using IPFS to host and distribute malware is nothing new. Unlike abusing Filehosters like MEGA, https://oshi.at, et. al. there isn't like a central AbuseReport thingy where you can just say "malware", link a VirusTotal report to it and call it a day.

Akamai is a classic CDN and whilst very expensive, it's reliable and still cheaper than using Ethereum or any other Blockchain to store data on, but since he's a CryptoBro, he just vomited into my mentions and then dipped like a coward...

Noticed the extra added query parameters to URLs on #discord?
"is", "ex" and "hm"

They will be taking measures to prevent direct linking. Soon you won't be able to use them as an image/file host any more. You probably shouldn't have in the first place, but it's been a useful feature that are going break a lot of old links similar to imgur's change some time back.

New Authenticated Attachment URL Parameters
To improve security of Discord's CDN, attachment CDN URLs have 3 new URL parameters: ex, is, and hm. Once authentication enforcement begins later this year, links with a given signature (hm) will remain valid until the expiration timestamp (ex).

Attachment CDN URLs have already started following the new pattern, so your app will begin to encounter the new parameters in attachment CDN links, but authentication is not being enforced until later this year. More details about when authentication will start to be enforced will be shared in the upcoming weeks.

Details about authentication parameters
ex: timestamp indicating when the attachment URL will expire, after which point you'd need to retrieve another URL (by doing something like retrieving a message via HTTP). More details to come about the length of time this will be by default.
is: timestamp indicating when the URL was issued
hm: unique signature that remains valid until ex.

Handling authentication parameters
When links expire
To access the attachment CDN link after the link expires, your app will need to fetch a new CDN URL. The API will automatically return valid, non-expired URLs when you access resources that contain an attachment CDN URL, like when retrieving a message.

The client behavior is not changing and will refresh posted URLs to be automatically valid, so your app doesn't need to worry about refreshing URLs itself if the link was valid at the time of posting

Nextcloud

Nextcloud ist eine freie Software für das Speichern von Daten (Filehosting) auf einem eigenen Server. Bei Einsatz eines Clients wird der Server automatisch mit einem lokalen Verzeichnis synchronisiert. Dadurch kann von mehreren Rechnern, aber auch über eine Weboberfläche, auf einen konsistenten Datenbestand zugegriffen werden. Ebenfalls sind Videokonferenzen und das „Teilen“ des eigenen Bildschirms möglich.

Nextcloud kann auf einem privaten Server oder Webspace ohne Zusatzkosten installiert werden. Mit Nextcloud behält der Besitzer die vollständige Kontrolle über seine Daten, und Möglichkeiten für Datenmissbrauch werden reduziert.
