Did you know that you can search for taken at the same time (hour and minute), not just the same date, in for ? This uses the Capture Date.

Use the contextual menu for an existing photo for this.

MakeUseOf: I Stopped Letting Photos Pile Up on My Phone: This Routine Keeps Me Clutter-Free . “Tired of seeing 10,000+ photos (most of which I never actually looked at), I realized that I needed to be more proactive in organizing my Camera Roll. I just run two (TWO) commands in my #RaspberryPi, and in 4 (FOUR) minutes I got the latest major version of the awesome @photoprism running smoothly, no issues. This is the result of wise and professional work that prioritizes stability and bug fixing over fancy breaking features. Move fast, break things Go slow, fix everything.

Thank you so much to all PhotoPrism contributors for all this! Long live self-hosted photo management software!

Own your own data, own your own pictures, own your own videos! #PhotoPrism makes it incredibly easy and fun, too!

Been busy deep diving into #digikam and #darktable... But I've entered a deeper rabbit hole —my really messy photo #metadata! Learnt a lot about #xmp #exif and #iptc, and using #exiftool (which is an amazing tool by Phil Harvey). #PhotoManagement #dam #photometadata

Collating my photos for 2024 & doing backups for the New Year (don't worry, I'm normally never this organised either).

150GB+ for the year 😳 I probably need to pony up for a proper NAS setup next year.

Implementation progress: got the crawler written & integrated with the indexes + thumbnailer (+`.gitignore` support) but not tested. The vector search persistence system is truly shocking..... I think I need to back it in an `njodb` instance.

Next up:

- testing the crawler
- integrating with the rest of the app
- HTTP API
- starting working on the web interface

(see also <npmjs.com/package/njodb>)

Apparently "photo management software that can build an index from a folder structure, _without_ writing to that folder structure" is too much to ask for on #LInux.

So far both Linux Mint's #Pix as well as #Shotwell have failed me, either by converting raw files to JPEGs and storing these next to the originals, or adding some XML files with their own metadata and stuff, or both.

*sigh*

Edit: yes I'm open to suggestions

It super sucks that older Sony digital cameras only had "CYBERSHOT" as their model name. Since I used a lot of Sony Cybershot-line cameras, I have a bunch of photos whose original models are unknown to me. 😤
