For #FungiFriday I found this old photo from October 2013. This beautiful pink fungus was seen growing on the end of a cut log by the Woodland Trail in Fall Creek Falls #StatePark near #Spencer #Tennessee. My apps tell me it is probably in the Genus #Fomitopsis…

A pink fungus grows from the dark cut end of a cut log. The fungus is a series of brackets or shelfs that arise from the pink substrate. There’s a sliver of forest and sky visible in the top left.

some sinister-looking berries growing from a tree, wrinkly, white with deep black creases, I'm not certain but possibly poison oak? I definitely stayed well clear of them

some deekly cracked mud in a dried riverbed, left with some diagonal zigzag imprints from a while-ago shoe, partially covered by shadows from surrounding blades of grass

rusty brown dirt, with a number of highly articulated shadows from a very distinctive type of weed that growing up I only ever knew by my own made-up name "twisters" based on the shape the spiky seeds took after they left the plant, here still attached via spikes and more closely resembling the Venus Flytraps in Banjo Kazooie

Overview The surrounding areas associated with Brown County, Indiana, are often identified by the Hoosier National Forest, the Yellowwood State Forest, and Brown County State Park. While the northern part of the county is often less protected than the areas further south, the canopy and related features of the rolling hills remain fairly similar nonetheless, with the un-glaciated terrain and features relatively similar to the foothills associated with the Appalachian Mountains.

Yes, we are having snow...or whirling white dust. Temperatures are around 23f/-5c, not too bad, but the wind picked up significantly, so we came home after 1.5 hours of walk. It will be below freezing all day today, which is good for catching up on reading.

An overcast and mild 41f/5c morning. It will start raining in the evening, and the question is if it will turn into bad snow as temps go down.
We had a very quiet walk as we didn't see any human or dog the whole time until we came back to the parking lot. Not bad having a state park to ourselves.
