Walking in Light Persistent Rain

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Yesterday I walked in light persistent rain for around two hours and my trousers got a little wet. The rain was heavy enough for me not to be dry, but not heavy enough to soak me. During the walk I noticed, at one point, that the rain seemed to be aerosolised, floating upwards and sideways rather than straight down.

The wind was picking up so I suspect that it's the wind that changed the properties and behaviour of the rain.

Yesterday it rained for the entire day, so walking could not be done without being in the rain. I noticed that one person had a towel on his bike seat. Other people were wearing full rain suits, trousers, and a top, to avoid from getting drenched.

Near La Combe I saw that a person hole cover was lifted, and a pump was draining it of water build up, right into the street where people were walking.

This rain fell for 20-30 hours. Apparently some children, in the Jura were sad, because their snowmen were melted by the rain. Meanwhile I have seen multiple photos of deep snow in Avoriaz, Les Arcs and other Alpine ski resorts. For them the base layer has been falling and they can get ready for the ski season.

Today I will be walking in the sun, when I go for my daily walk.

Step 3:
Create the Live USB with Persistence

Using #mkusb on #Linux

  • Install mkusb:
Open a terminal and run the command:
    sudo add-apt-repository ppa:mkusb/ppa
            sudo apt update
            sudo apt install mkusb
  • Launch mkusb:
Type mkusb in the terminal and press Enter.
  • Select the ISO File:
Choose the downloaded ISO file from your file manager.
  • Select the Target Device:
Choose your USB drive from the list. Ensure you select the correct device to avoid data loss on other drives.
  • Select ‘Persistent live’:
In the options, select ‘Persistent live’ to ensure changes will be saved between sessions.
  • Customize Persistence Size:
You can specify how much space you want to allocate for persistence. Ideally, setting aside at least 2GB is reasonable for basic use.
  • Start the Process:
mkusb will then create the bootable USB with persistence. This process could take several minutes.
  • Complete:
Once the process is complete, safely eject the USB drive.

/dev/sda

si no:
/dev/sda/

dd if=/dev/USB1/ of=/dev/USB2/

Si y no.

I do get a persistent history with sh (lacking the capabilities of csh) with a normal system instead of the live system.

I'm aware of issues such as <bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show>:

― 278230 – sh: Multiple instances overwrite each other's history

#FreeBSD #sh #persistent #history

2025-09-28

/bin/sh: history: not found

Why no history with the live system after using FreeBSD Installer?

Is this a bug, or to be expected within the constraints of a FreeBSD live system?

Edit: the footnote from <lists.freebsd.org/archives/fre>,

"[1] I’ve noticed on fresh installs, the default shell no longer has working persistent history, which is a *big* POLA violation, if people want to complain about something."

Great-tailed grackles in a #population toward the northern edge of their #range (Sacramento/Woodland, California) were less #related to each other, which means that they #dispersed farther from where they hatched 🐣 than grackles in a population nearer the center of their range (Tempe, Arizona).

In particular, females in Arizona stay closer to home 🏡 than males, while females in California disperse farther away from home ✈️ like the males do. To keep pushing the edge of the geographic range further, both males and females must be present so they can breed in the new areas.

Now we know that there are 2 things that are different about the grackles on the edge: they are more #persistent and they disperse farther from where they hatched (especially the females)

Thanks to @DieterLukas for leading this article on grackle genetics and dispersal! #TheGrackleProject

🔥 Hot off the press from #TheGrackleProject!
🌇 When the city comes to you, be #flexible
When you go to the city, be #persistent

Great-tailed grackles who were #trained to be more flexible used a wider variety of foods 🍿 and #foraging techniques, but had similar #habitat use patterns and #social behavior as non-trained grackles.

Given that this species is rapidly expanding its geographic #range 🗺️ and shifting more toward #urban 🏙️ and #arid 🏜️ environments in recent years, our finding could suggest that foraging breadth (the number of different food types an individual eats) is a factor in #adapting to #Human-modifiedEnvironments

I am trying to write a claim for a lawsuit, and the middle man resident hacker in my devices is always sabotaging my efforts.

I hoped a Chromebook would be a more difficult device to hack, but this was hacked from the get go. Whoever these criminals are, I am almost certain a law enforcement agency is facilitating the hacking tools.

After 7 years of sabotage, I recognize the "glitches"

@f @ai6yr @briankrebs I think it's less of a "#political" question but an act of #SelfDefense and #MutualDefense at this point.

Re: #TechIlliterates that are unwilling to learn, act like a "#BenevolentDictator" and enshure they can't harm themselves in the sense that they don't get #sudo or other administrative privilegues and can't do any #persistent #changes.

  • And if that means they get forced to use #Tails then that's a "necessary evil"...

After all, societies almost everywhere ban people from driving motor vehicles faster than 6 km/h by people who actively refuse to even take basic exams and classes for a #DrivingLicense.

  • And I'm convinced one can do more damage as #TechIlliterate with a #PC than a single-cylinger two-stroke engine driven motorcycle...

@ai6yr @briankrebs OFC this targets #TechIlliterates and the only effective means here are:

  1. Teach #TechLiteracy instead of consumerism.
  2. Mandate #confirmation & #notification - #PopUp|s for every use of #Clipboard (similar to #webcam use by websites)...
  3. Ban #JavaScript - seriously!
  4. Ban #Windows, because it's a #Govware, espechally since #Windows10 and even more so on #Windows11 that is *insecure in every configuration!
  5. Put #TechIlliterates before a system they can't feck up. I.e. @tails_live @tails / #Tails for that reason alone (can't run such commands if they neither got #root nor any #persistent #storage to target).
  6. Normalize the use of @torproject #TorBrowser!
  7. #Teach #tech #literacy instead of #consumerism!
  8. Ban #GAFAMs and their shitty products!
  9. Migrate every #TechIlliterate to #Linux and don't give them administrative privilegues.
  10. Teach tech literacy instead of consumerism!

Screenshot of ProtonMail notification after I clicked the forward button. It says, "The original message you are trying to forward/reply to is in the process of being sent..." This could be HTML tampering by hackers. I'm using a public library computer and am a target of persistent hacking. I believe many users are hacked without realizing it, as the signs are often subtle and easy to overlook.

#persistent #hacking #symptom #unlawful #ProtonMail #htmlTampering #payAttention #persistentlyHacked

A screenshot of the proton.com email service's user interface. It shows a notification pop up after the user clicked the forward button on an email.

The notification heading text is "Sending original message." The body of the notification contain the message "The original message you are trying to forward / reply to is in the process of being sent. If you continue, you will not be able to undo sending of the original message any longer."

This likely HTML tampering by hackers. I am using a computer from a public library, and I am a subject of unlawful persistent targeted hacking.

#persistent #hacking #symptom #unlawful #proton #htmlTampering

Screenshot taken on 20241212 by cybertrappedJust searched for 'ProtonMail: "The original message you are trying to forward_reply to is in the process of being sent at"' on DuckDuckGo, but found no results. This makes me suspicious—it could be a fake notification or a hacker attempt to trick me into interacting with it, potentially allowing them to exploit my system further. Stay cautious with suspicious messages, folks!
