The coolest thing about #makerfaireruhr was to see how many #hackerspaces and/or #makerspaces the Ruhr area has grown in the last 20 years. It’s tremendously easier not to nerd alone today.

That and to meet a dear human I haven’t seen in about 10 years.

Finding wood is one of those things I had no idea how to do. (And I still don’t know much about the different kinds of wood) I’m at the “make construction lumber work for me” stage of #woodworking. (Probably won’t go much further)

However I quite enjoyed this video on what the different kinds of stores are, what the experiences are like, and how the prices and products compare.

As a proponent of #urbanism, I want to be part of reframing what #home means in urban environments, to encourage more people to live more densely.

I don't want every family to own their own warehouse.

For similar reasons, I want society to invest more heavily in #libraries, #parks, #transit, and #toolsharing programs, in #makerspaces and in #artists #rehearsal studios.

One of my most hated phrases is, "Neither a borrower nor a lender be."
