I've seen these being used to do #ClassRoom - setups and smaller #InternetCafés, but there's a reason they kinda got obsoleted by #VDI with #VNC / #RDP + #VirtualDesktop - #VM|s and #ThinClients...

Not to mention these are way more fiddly than #OpenThinclient or #PorteusKiosk when it comes to setup and maintenance, whereas a #ThinClient is easy to add as demand grows...

Just finished Psalm VR. It’s a little rough around the edges but I don’t think I’ve ever shouted so loud playing a video game. It got me at least 5 times. Wouldn’t be surprised if the police have been called.

The use of NeuroScreens allows you to perform these actions in the "cloud". Simply open, use and then close NeuroScreens and it is gone.

Don't install the new Nvidia drivers if you are using Virtual Desktop. There is official info from the developer that it completely breaks video encoding with VD.

@anthropy Could be good for #ValveIndex, but my experience with #Fedora, #Quest3S and #ALVR is baaaad. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but I couldn't replicate even the performance of the original Meta app on #Windows (quite bad), let alone #VirtualDesktop (excellent), all on the same connection.

I use this a lot for starting graphical fullscreen to VMs and remote workstations (RDP, VNC, qemu SDL/GTK GUI, ...), so I can "swipe" between my local Desktop and the remote machines Desktops. But it works with any Linux GUI app.

AFAICT Wayland does include some stuff that #Xorg didn't, including native support for multiple sessions & users on one machine incl. remote login via #RDP for #RemoteDesktop & #VirtualDesktop setups.

So if you want to do some #transcoding / #VirtualDesktop setup, this is a good card to #reuse.

Remember my complaint about out of the box mapping of just 12 desktops in different desktop environments like XFce?

Because of my different workflows I have 16 desktops predefined, just so I know, with the keyboard shortcut, where to jump to fast and continue where I left off. I only use the mouse when I absolutely have to, or when it's really elegant to do so, so I'm a keyboard shortcut mapping daemon.

I haven't taken the time yet to check into the configuration files, of my preferred Desktop Environments and Window Managers, how to map more keyboard shortcuts to More virtual desktops.

However I'm certain that what you want is scriptable, in at least three Desktop Environments and at least two Window Managers it's just not out of the box

I love digging into configuration files and I've seen this options in a few of them

#ALVR is noticeably better than #virtualdesktop for #Quest3 #VR / #vrchat - VD constantly lags every 10-15 seconds while ALVR not only works without lag, but does so at a higher bitrate.
