It is mentioned on several pages, that the default is #CP437, and how I can change this default, but it seems like a mystery or forbidden knowledge WHY it is changed, without me actively changing it.
It might have to do with the screen resolutions of those two devices, or that one is an #Intel #GPU and the other is #Nvidia. But i was not able to find anything of value.

I'm translating #Cosmic desktop to Dutch and I'm using the translations of #KDEplasma to guide me in the right direction. For that I have Cosmic and #KDE running in a different #tty. I was typing something in Cosmic and suddenly the screenlocker activated because KDE #plasma didnt detect activity... Guess you not supposed to have two desktops running at the same time! #linux #linuxdesktop

I started my two days #ConsoleChallenge today (CET) :). I disabled my display manager and my T460s (named sneezy) will directly boot into the console. No X anymore! Hopefully more than one person (me) will partake in this challenge :). But maybe some people will also participate. Would be cool to read other people's experiences in the #console.
I know there are lots of people who have a Console only setup, but for me it's new. So if you're only used to use X or Wayland then maybe you should also try.
It's still the last of February, but I wanted to do the challenge over the full first weekend of March.
I'll end the challenge on monday (2025/03/03) morning with posting a gemlog article about my experiences still only from the console.

sudo apt install gpm -y && sudo systemctl enable --now gpm

That's just what I needed. I did a system update, restarted my PC and can no longer log in. It works directly on #tty, but if I try to edit a file with #vim or #nano, the programs apparently don't exist.
What the hell could be responsible for this? What has such power to cause such damage? I'm annoyed 😤
Das hat mir gerade noch gefehlt. Systemupdate durchgeführt, PC neu gestartet und kann mich nicht mehr anmelden. Direkt an #tty klappt zwar, aber versuche ich mit #vim oder #nano eine Datei zu bearbeiten, existieren die Programme angeblich nicht.
Was zur Hölle kann dafür verantwortlich sein? Was hat solche Macht, um derartigen Schaden anzurichten? Bin genervt 😤

As my #PineBookPro with #Manjaro quite often loses its #NetworkDevice, #Bluetooth or just the #KDE Plasma I now run #fsck on my now broken 4.5 TB external #USB drive on #TTY 3.

On my new PC the #Linux #TTY doesn't support the ▄ and ▀ #Unicode block characters. It only renders as replacement diamonds. My old #Fedora machine did support those, my new machine is #TuxedoOS (based on #Kubuntu). Anyone having any idea how to get those characters supported? Also is is possible to get more colors supported on the TTY?
I've tried the Fixed and Termius fonts via `dpkg-reconfigure console-setup`, will try Goha next. Sucks that I have to reboot for that change.
