KDE and Gnome are probably the two most popular desktop environments available for Linux. Both have a dedicated Matrix client that is available to install as a Flatpak package.

Suite des tests sur #Android avec #UnifiedPush , #Tusky ne marche pas avec et plante. Par contre #Moshidon le gère bien. #ElementX est censé le gérer mais je n'ai rien trouvé dans ses paramètres.
Concernant le desktop Linux, #KDE l'a intégré dans son framework https://www.volkerkrause.eu/2025/04/18/kde-kunifiedpush-webpush.html et 2 applications le gère (#Tokodon et #Neochat).
Pour #GNOME un ticket a été ouvert puis transféré aux dev de la Glib qui l'ont clôturé en mode administration bureaucratique française..

Sometimes using a native app after using electron app for a while just feels so refreshing lol
Using (an uptodate) KDevelop is a handy IDE for Haiku (as there are others like the native Genio IDE). :)

The @kde app for matrix has gotten way better! Last I used it it would crash every other second.
@neochat lacks only one feature now and that's adjustable font-size, from an accessibility point of view.
Currently the app relies on the system size, but the system looks better and more readable at smaller sizes which isn't the case with a chat app.
And keeping track on NeoChat development, thanks to a pointer from upstream to update kirigami-addons also to master checkout it looks like we are still on par! :)
I'm going back to the #Element app for using #Matrix. It works well on #macOS, it should work the same on #Linux. #KDE's #Neochat while can be nice in its simplicity, was in the end too janky and unreliable for me with weird UI/UX in various places and also some unexpected crashes from time to time.

KDE updates at haikuports, after the update on the frameworks to 6.9.0 I've started out merging some gear24 libraries and applications for 24.12.0, expect some more in the near future (next one coming up is Tokodon).
For now NeoChat and Itinerary are updated and available for install on Haiku. Enjoy!
PS, for NeoChat's update I've dropped the KF5 version in favor of the KF6 version.
Weird #Neochat bug lol - I'm guessing bcos I sent a message to "Person A" at the same time I'm receiving a message from "Person A", the UI is showing the messages sent by me, as if it was sent by "Person A".
#Matrix itself likely knows tho whose message is whose, cos as soon as I leave the room and re-enter, the UI is showing the messages (and their senders) correctly. I've been pretty happy with #Element X as my Matrix client on mobile, but honestly there doesn't seem to be a good one on desktop.
I don't particularly like Neochat (mostly UI/UX) but it sorta does the job, while Element on desktop.. looks decent for the most part except for chat rooms themselves which is what you'll be using 99% of the time. Idk how to describe it other than it looks quite jank and broken.

Kaidan is a user-friendly and modern chat app for every device. that uses the open communication protocol XMPP (Jabber).

#Push Benachrichtigungen unter #KDE funktionieren noch nicht perfekt, aber gut. Bei einem Neustart gibt es noch Probleme mit der Netzwerkverbindung. Aber immerhin eine gute Loesung auf die aufgebaut werden kann.
Wie man sehen kann wird #NeoChat und #Tokodon unterstuetzt. 👍

2 of my favorite KDE applications, Tokodon and NeoChat, updated to the latest release locally.
Waiting on releasing latest frameworks for KF6 (6.9.0) when those are released at KDE, before pushing the new 24.12.0 release for the mentioned applications. Looking good when testing. (just missing the icon in the about window for Tokodon)?
