Space Journey / Rosetta

Risograph based on the trajectory of the ESA probe “Rosetta”, which was send into space in 2004 to explore the comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko and crashed on the comet’s surface in 2016 after the mission was completed.

The work was realized during an Artist-in-Science Residency of the artist at the European Space Agency (ESA) hosted by Kultur einer Digitalstadt in Darmstadt in 2022.

The print was produced by Herr und Frau Rio in Munich and is a limited, signed and numbered edition.

Risograph based on the trajectory of the ESA probe “Rosetta”, which was sent in 2004 to explore the comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko and crashed on the comet’s surface in 2016 after the mission was completed. The Mars Climate Orbiter was built in 1998 by
NASA and Lockheed in partnership. Lockheed used Imperial units in their software, while NASA used the metric system like normal sane people everywhere else. Nobody noticed this discrepancy.
Well, they definitely noticed when the $50 million probe didn't enter into a stable orbit like it was supposed to, and instead crashed spectacularly into the surface of Mars.

#NASA's #Juno #spaceprobe captured curious image of a bright green dot on #Jupiter. It's not a dead pixel but rather the flash of a single #lightning bolt. The image was taken about 19,900 miles above the Jovian clouds. "On Earth, lightning bolts originate from water clouds, and happen most frequently near the equator, while on Jupiter lightning likely also occurs in clouds containing an ammonia-water solution, and can be seen most often near the poles," NASA explains.
